Browse Forums Building A New House Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 22Dec 29, 2012 9:49 pm Man my inlaws are obsessed with the cas, not sure whether I hope they build one in Alkimos or not? Yay less fuel to pay for... Noo nothing will stop them going every night? It makes sense to put one there though. Is there going to be a major shopping complex in Alkimos? Eg. Lakeside Joondalup will be shoreside Alkimos. Cinemas etc. If I was doing FIFO work I would of strongly considering buying there definitely the place of the northern suburbs to be. But I don't like driving long distances to work every day anymore So something more central is a bit more appropriate for me. Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 24Dec 30, 2012 12:17 am where will the big shopping center be going? Hurry up and wait Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 25Dec 30, 2012 7:37 am I dunno dude it was originally planned 20-30yrs ago that Alkimos was going to be the next northern city, and the shopping centre probably still is 5-8 years away at least. I don't pay that close interest to it because I don't live there but I do read a few articles here and there about the plans from time to time. I am guessing it would be located near the future train station. Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 26Dec 30, 2012 7:55 am I am not 100% sure but i thought it was going between that alkimos beach development and trinity so it is near the train station. There is also woolies led shopping centre between trinity and butler which will be opening in 2014. However, I thought Yanchep was going to be the satellite city (joondalup-esque) not alkimos. They have put that new woolies shopping centre in there too but that is designed to be expanded over the next 10 years. Haven't been in this thread for a while. Welcome turtle! Will have to look for your build thread. We have no parkland sadly at our back or our front. We are looking at a limestone wall / colorbond fence at our front and hopefully over our rear neighbours roof at the backs as we are raised up. But we didn't buy the land for the view although we did deliberately pick to look at a wall rather than the neighbour's front yard. We're close to the school, it's the size we wanted and is close enough to the train, several parks and the local shops. I can't wait to live there. Speaking of commuting though too it looks like I might have a drive ahead of me when we move there. :/ Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 27Dec 30, 2012 11:21 am When we first heard about Alkimos opening up land and so forth, we thought it was a good area to buy due to the beach front near it and very similar to where we live now. But unfortunately it is too north for our liking. Even if there would be a rail station, still would be a big inconvenience because there is no station near where i work and i do shifts anyway. But overall it seems to be a good city like Joondalup right near the beach. I like the name of it aswell. Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 28Dec 30, 2012 11:37 am We have friends that live in Alkimos on a street called Chesstree, They tried convincing us to move out to Alkimos and at the time I was like nah I don't want to travel that far, they were like it's not that bad, a year later they hate it lol! She has also written off a car hitting a kangaroo on Marmion avenue on the way home one night. Re: WA - Alkimos/Butler/Yanchep 29Dec 30, 2012 12:51 pm Yeah, if you work in the city, it's a nightmare. Butler's new shopping centre is going to be a decent size I thought? With the train station within it, like Joondalup? It's really close to Alkimos, on the border of Brighton and Trinity really -would they really put another shopping complex? I imagine many Alkimos kids will attend it. It's a two minute walk from my house, so I'm waiting to hear back from the department about how to actually enrol there, coz my daughter begins kindy next year. Butler train station is looking good. They say it's ready end of 2014, but the actual train tracks are a whole other story. Eagerly awaiting Masters Home Improvement, Woolworths and Big W, they've got big grey walls up. Driving all the way to Clarkson for everything is NOT convenient.
