Hi All,
We are looking to build a 2 story house and wanted to make the stairs a feature. I'm interested in other peoples experiences and thoughts. Our plans calls for a simple staircase (straight up/down). Pictures welcome
Cheers,
Matt

Victorian ash timber treads and risers with a closed stringer and a stainless steel and glass balustrade. We haven't had the stairs stained yet but there is a picture on my thread. We had the actual stairs built and installed by genneral staircases and the balustrade by Keystone stainless steel. Re: Stairs 3Sep 14, 2012 7:13 am Vess Our stairs are a feature in the home. We are thinking of doing the cut stringer closed rise timber with glass balustrades. How much did it cost you if you don't mind sharing? We have been quoted 9k Thanks Re: Stairs 4Sep 14, 2012 12:15 pm MattR Hi All, We are looking to build a 2 story house and wanted to make the stairs a feature. There's some really cool-looking stuff which would certainly be a talking-point; although admittedly cost more due to being unusual. Of course a lot of them would need some modification to make them legal (eg. you need something to stop people falling off one side if it's over 1m off the floor); but the ideas are just for inspiration. We are builing two story and the stairs will be visible at the entrance and I want them to be a feature and pleasant to the eye. I was hoping for a whale bone completely open staircase but the budget wont stretch that far. When we finalise our design I will post some pictures.
