Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 11, 2012 2:55 pm We started the paperwork process in April but this build has been In the pipe line for over 3 years, in a 14 square home built for two then three kids later felt a little cramped.. Its been a roller coaster from initially putting our home on the market to having to find a rental within a month to moving, hubby ended up in hospital as a result long story.. Never in a million years did I ever think I'd be this excited about a toilet and a make shift fence... Finally all the paper work is coming to life
I love seeing everyone's build so I thought id share mine. My friends and family are happy for us but I dont really think they would be interested in tile and carpet colours:) more pics to come Re: Our Hartley 361- build 2Sep 11, 2012 3:07 pm Some of our colours you might see on other posts as I was sharing with other fellow DFH owners
Re: Our Hartley 361- build 3Sep 12, 2012 8:49 am Hey Our Dream Home, Thats great that things are finally progressing for you , even something as simple as a toilet and a fence is cause to get excited cos you finally after all their admin hell are getting on your way with things. ... we have gotten absolutley no where still and I am becoming convinced they are delaying on purpose. Our job has apparently gone to ordering and after that is done in another 2 weeks then they will apply for the building permit, don't know why they can't order and apply for the permit at the same time and never mind that I have an email from our admin person on 31 July stating she was applying for the building permit the following day meaning 1st of August.... It is just delay after delay as you are well aware of im sure... Anyways, its great you have a thread now, looking forward to following it since I think your house will be finished before we even get a dunny on our block Re: Our Hartley 361- build 4Sep 12, 2012 12:20 pm Oh no! that's frustrating and I know how that feels! Nothing seems to be happening on site today, but the site manager is coming over to speak about the contracts with me today, so that's something. Hopefully the permit you need won't take to long to come back. They told me they ordered the job this was about a month ago and the slab should be down within 4 to 6 weeks so we are estimating to at least have a slab by the first week in October.. Fingers crossed. I do like the fact that the site manager takes the time to call and meet with you. The other builders who we have used in the past never did that, I'm sure other builders do as well. Good luck with the build keep me posted:) Re: Our Hartley 361- build 5Sep 12, 2012 1:27 pm Thats a very personal approach from your site superviser... very good of him. You read about some peoples site supervisors they dont even meet with the owners until half way through the build so to come to you prior is great Re: Our Hartley 361- build 6Sep 12, 2012 2:34 pm Glad to see you have a thread I can follow (when I have time!!!) Our supervisor is the same, meet up to go over contract and we were told if you want to have a weekly update to tell them and they will call you. I just annoy mine when I need to! Glad to see something has happened even if it is a toilet, I just wanted the sign on the block! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 7Sep 12, 2012 4:25 pm He seemed really good picked up a few things our sales rep missed like the raised Areal for the plasma but they didn't raise the power points, and the back hallway where the kids play Room is has little lighting which is silly really just assumed they had the right lighting when the house was designed. Said we should have a slab by end of this month lock up by december and that if we are not in by April he won't be happy!!Don't know if I'm that gullible.. So who knows time will tell. Was good to meet him though, makes things seem more real instead of just being paperwork overload!! There is someone actually going to build the house...Lol..Yay Re: Our Hartley 361- build pics. 8Sep 13, 2012 10:57 am Outside colours

Re: Our Hartley 361- build 10Sep 13, 2012 3:26 pm Tell me about it.. I was looking at the plans ages ago and was second guessing myself.. Thought that the lighting was a little "light" excuse the pun!! At the back hall way, but then thought ah well surely that's enough, I mean it still might be I won't know until I'm in it I guess, but when he mentioned it, it confirmed what I was thinking. I have sooo many pendants to hang up I'm worried it's going to cost me a fortune to get them wired in.. Have no idea what they charge, hope the sparkie is nice to me:) Re: Our Hartley 361- build 14Sep 13, 2012 3:52 pm Your light choices look really nice!!! That wall light for the bathroom and powder room is really nice!!! where did you find that? I have decided to start looking at furniture this weekend, there is no intention to buy but I need to do something productive towards this house since it seems the builder isnt . Re: Our Hartley 361- build 15Sep 13, 2012 4:24 pm Lol!! Trust me this is all that's made me feel somewhat better throughout all the ups and downs of paperwork. That was from beacon I have been advised by my husband to kindly stop....I do however want to get a chandelier over the freestanding bath if that's at all possible.. Maybe I can ask for that for Christmas so no news today on your build?? I have not been on site today and I'm so tempted to go for a drive but the kiddies are all unwell maybe tomorrow hopefully there is more then just a fence and a toilet...
Re: Our Hartley 361- build 16Sep 13, 2012 5:02 pm There is never any word unless i ask. I was having a look through the build contract again today. Apparently they are supposed to apply for a building permit with 14 days of titles (which they havent) our land titled 6 weeks ago and once the get all required permits they have to start within 21 days... Next tuesday will be 2 weeks since they stated they were ordering the job and told me would take 2 weeks so im going to be all over them from next week. i really dont care if it peeves them off, we started this whole process at the start of year and were told after titles they would start the build end of august..here we are mid september and no start in site. On a positive note I think ill have to pay a visit to beacon at some stage, im also looking for front pillar lights, I want something unusual and not the same old ones i seen on every second house down the street. Could you ask the electrician working on your house if they will put your light fittings up for you for a bit of extra cash or a slab or 2?? Re: Our Hartley 361- build 17Sep 13, 2012 6:01 pm Yeah I am going to call him shortly, I'm really hoping he will Put them up for me. Do you know what they put up outside? I have three at the front as well 2 on the pillars one on the garage and forgot to ask. I also want a video door camera don't know what they are called have no idea where to get one or if that needs wiring. As for the permit, How frustrating for you. Hopefully when you mention that you have read the contacts they will follow it up for you. Good luck Re: Our Hartley 361- build 18Sep 13, 2012 6:27 pm hi our dream home, just found your thread and you are at a similar stage as us although we have now started on site and were 'meshed' today, slab pour on Saturday I love the kitchen and bathroom wall lights. I dont remember seeing them at Beacon but we haven't been in there for a few months. We liked some cone type lights for our kitchen bench but I think I like the one you've posted better so will have to have another look for those and the bathroom ones too. If you are thinking of a security camera, just check if you need a dedicated phone point, I'm sure this was mentioned to us during our electrical selections, it may be for certain types though? It can be placed in out-of-the way places like WIR or linen cupboard (I think). https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Hartley 361- build 19Sep 13, 2012 6:30 pm They dont put an actual light fitting, they just wire it up and then put like this metal plate thing ove the wiring. (thats what our sales rep said) I asked what fitting they put on, her answer was none. We would have to add our own after. I think I am really lucky here cos my dad is an electrician so getting all my light fittings changed over will be easy and he will add all the extra powerpoints, tv points etc. oh and the works in security systems, my husband is security crazy! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 20Sep 13, 2012 6:40 pm Thats handy so I gotta go get the outdoor lights, I've got a heap at the back as well.. I think the electrician is going want more then a slab of beer from me! Beacon have got a few nice ones on their website might have to go shopping on the weekend without my husband... Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17601 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23765 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23894 |
