Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Hartley 361- build 181Nov 23, 2012 9:49 pm Thanks JPC. We managed to get it all sorted. Does anyone know the process for supplying your own fixtures and fittings for DFH builds? Our consultant is trying to discourage it and is making it very hard for us to find out about doing it. We are looking at supplying carpets, basins and tapware. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 182Nov 23, 2012 10:02 pm Sorry bexieG, Im not sure can you just keep them out of contract and then organize with SS when the tradies can come? Or is that an issue with " OHS" ?? Not sure how it works?? Anyway in regards to our build today I took some more pics. Brickie has been working pretty hard in the last two days and I'm wrapped with the bricks against the black window and door frames Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our Hartley 361- build 183Nov 23, 2012 11:07 pm Bexie G, I have just told DFH that I am supplying my own taps, flooring and cabinet knobs, and they have deleted the price from my contract. No problem at all! If it turns out that my taps are fiddly, we'll just have to pay the plumbers extra cash directly, but I don't see that this will be an issue. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 185Nov 24, 2012 7:13 am Ooh very glamorous! Bricks are coming along nicely too. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 186Nov 24, 2012 9:12 am TashnStu77 Ooh very glamorous! Bricks are coming along nicely too. Thanks, we have to do the fence first so holding off on all the pretty stuff... Currently on my Christmas/wish list though .... If I think about all the stuff we need to fill the house it makes me feel sick.. And the council refuses to pay for the fence half.. So add it to the scary list?? Hope Santa is nice to me this year.. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 188Nov 27, 2012 10:02 pm Your going great guns and you've totally surpassed me. I know what you mean about all the scary stuff still to be paid for, we were just talking about that and I hate having it hang over my head of what is still to be done once we are actually in the house. It's like an unpaid bill hanging over your head. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 189Nov 27, 2012 10:20 pm Hi Tashn that went up In two days, and the bricks, one wall is nearly completed. I was working out the amount of furniture we need and it's a fair bit.. I think I might just concentrate on one room at a time if possible. We have had this stuff for over 10 years time for a change Re: Our Hartley 361- build 190Nov 28, 2012 7:46 am Whats this I see... PLASTER!!! Thats fantastic, they have really gotten a move on with your build... and look at all the bricks that have been done in such a short time, how exciting! Our place is going so slow! Bricks been going for well over 2 weeks. Our SS assured me last week that yes the brick layer is slow but he does a fantastic job so we just need to be patient with him! OK I was fine with this, but when we went up on the weekend I did not expect him to be this slow... in a week all he had done was brick accross the top of garage and half way up one of the front pillars.. in a whole week!!! Credit where its due though, he is doing a great job! But I want to be in my home sometime next year Oh and the lovely builders next door to us have put the scaffolding up to do their roof tiles but their scaffolding is hanging over our house, (they are higher up the hill)... anyways this means our roof can't be put on yet !!! Getting so frustrated at this super slow pace! Your place is looking really great and the new idea for the lights in the ensuite are a great alternative, will go well with the black bath too!! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 191Nov 28, 2012 11:54 am Thanks JPC I feel for you must be frustrating. We had a delay again a few weeks back, that was frustrating enough.. I dont know why but nothing seemed to be going on, i decided to called the SS as I noticed nothing was going on I didn't mention anything I just kindly asked him how it was all going he seemed to have it all under control told me when everything would be delivered and is trying to get things done so that the tradies he has that does work over Christmas (his tilers) has a job to do while the others are away. Great to hear that your bricks are on the way, that's a bumber about the roof though.. Hopefully lockup stage won't take to much longer for you. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 192Dec 06, 2012 6:53 am Decided to go see the block last night around 6.30pm and there were tradies everywhere working on the plaster. Was surprised to see them working so late. Near lock up stage now which is great! That's great about your house being near lock up as well Are you building the Hartley? I'm just wondering if I'm going to put the dining table in the family room and leave the meals area free? I have another pendant to go over the dining table so have to make a decision before we move in?? I'm hoping I'm wrong cant wait to move in, sick of renting. Have not seen the house since tuesday, going tomorrow.. Very excited Re: Our Hartley 361- build 199Dec 12, 2012 1:27 pm YAY near lock up stage
So the previous post was about not holding my breath I think lack of faith in the building industry and past experience may of been talking. I just spoke to the SS and he is doing a really great job, we may be in before we know it I have not gone to the block since the weekend and they were working on it then and last week they were there at around 7pm still going. Really impressed so far by the progress lately just hope the quality is there when we finally move in Re: Our Hartley 361- build 200Dec 12, 2012 1:30 pm Sounds like you've had great progress! Quality in the end is all that really matters most to me. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17863 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23874 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23981 |
