Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Hartley 361- build 221Jan 21, 2013 12:50 pm How exciting that you have a kitchen. So far are you happy with it? I'm supposed to be getting mine in a week or two and I will admit I'm dreading I'll hate it. We will all take you up on your offer of a coffee too, I hope you know where you pack the mugs and jug. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 222Jan 21, 2013 1:15 pm Hey ODH, yay a kitchen!! Are you happy with it so far? Did they do plaster and then kitchen or was there something inbetween? Our ss said plaster should be on in the next 2 weeks so i am trying to figure out DFH's order of doing things! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 223Jan 21, 2013 6:49 pm Hey jpc you have the same SS as us yeah?? If so he did plaster, then we noticed the pantry shelves, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry were delivered. Our kitchen was difficult to get as the colour is popular so we waited until after the new year (over a month or so to get it) hoping they start the painting next week Re: Our Hartley 361- build 224Jan 21, 2013 7:22 pm apologies - for some reason I thought you were building with 'M' I am following way too many builds, I think https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Hartley 361- build 225Jan 21, 2013 7:32 pm dreamcometrue apologies - for some reason I thought you were building with 'M' I am following way too many builds, I think Lol, it's ok I know what you mean I get confused also. I do agree though I love m facades a few friends have built With them and my mums is an m home and its over 15 plus years old. The house still looks modern. Thats the great thing about both DFH an m I think timeless facades Re: Our Hartley 361- build 226Jan 24, 2013 9:57 pm Can anyone tell me what was completed during fix out stage!!! I'm really bugged about getting the invoice today as nothing has really been done since the last invoice... The kitchen is in minus the bench and sink no shelves are in which it states in the contract. I Was told painters would be there today but nothing!!! I'm calling them tomorrow to see whats happening.. I think we have been pretty good clients I have not really had any complaints to date but this is frustrating... No flooring, paint, gas point, driveway, door knobs , benches , shelves. Currently just a shell of a house.., If they think I'm paying the invoice they have another thing coming.. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 227Jan 25, 2013 7:40 am I would be calling them for sure! It was just last night I was reading the DFH contract because we got our lock up stage invoice and I wasn't sure if we were technically at lock up. From what you have described as being done there is NO way you are even close to completed fixing stage! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 228Jan 25, 2013 1:11 pm Yeah that is what I was thinking. I spoke to the SS today and head office were not able to help !!!!!!!!' hmmmmm as the guy that deals with invoices is away!! And the SS... Well... I don't think it's fair to put to much on here but I will say though, This is the first complaint so far so we and they have done pretty well I don't think it's to much to ask to want what's done on contract otherwise why do we have contracts for??? Re: Our Hartley 361- build 229Jan 30, 2013 4:35 pm Can't see through the windows anymore as they are back rolling the house so once the painting is finished hopefully they can take the plastic sheets down that are on the windows. Planning to get the SS to take me through next week looking forward to seeing where they are up to Re: Our Hartley 361- build 231Feb 07, 2013 11:37 am Wow thats great you have your kitchen, so exciting to see things going on inside I am sure. Have you been given any idea of when it will all be complete? We just had plaster done last week so I am hoping we can have our kitchen soon enough. So far pretty happy with our SS and how things have progressed this year Re: Our Hartley 361- build 232Feb 07, 2013 12:21 pm I've been told 9 weeks approxmently glad u r happy with the SS. Great to hear jpc we had to have a sook as nothing was going on on our block for a while finally all this week the painters have been in and met with the SS on Tuesday who let me know what was next. We are looking forward to the next fortnight as things should start coming along once the painters are finished. Looks like the garage was painted today. We picked a colour called imagine which has come up darker then we thought but still happy with it and whitewash for the skirtings, taking hubby there after work to see where we are at after a full hot day today, I'm assuming paint would dry nice and fast in this weather Re: Our Hartley 361- build 234Feb 11, 2013 7:20 am Hi everyone, ODH your home is looking great! Just wanted to get people's opinions. We are still in battle with dfh regarding our contract. It was given to us just before Xmas and they had literally drawn the house into a hole and were stating that we'd need a retaining wall 2.6m high along the whole side of the house. We've had independent engineers review it ad they should have drawn the house half of that and filled in the other half. So we requested a meeting with head office and got them to redraw plans and a few other changes like move laundry and change size of garage...(3weeks later) all they did was exactly what they should have done in the first place. They still didn't do everything we asked for and now they want the full deposit and they haven't even told us the cost of the project. We don't feel happy about paying when we have no idea what the revised costing will be and they are saying they can only give us an estimate anyway. We are at the pout of walking away if we can't get the costs. Do you think we are being unreasonable? Is this normal process? We have thought that if we requested a new contract from scratch we would get both proper drawings and the costs but just have to wait the 10wk period. Any thoughts anyone? Thnx Re: Our Hartley 361- build 235Feb 11, 2013 10:33 am Hey bexie sorry to hear about the mucking about you seem to be having. I had a few pre contract issues as do most people. I found the problem was that there were always a few people involved and I found once I was able to just speak with one person who knew me and my case then it was easier to deal with. I would try to get this sorted instead of waiting another 10 weeks, although in saying that they may take another 10 weeks to sort this issue out?? I guess you will have to find out how long it will all take. Good luck Keep us posted Re: Our Hartley 361- build 236Feb 11, 2013 11:01 am Hi, for us we dot mind how long it takes as we would rather know what we are going to pay and what it will look like. Do you think it is unreasonable for us to be requoted? It seems they think its out of process. However if we request a new contract effectively we are getting what we want but jst waiting longer for it. I must say the only person who has been pleasant and easy to deal with was the lady at colour selections. Everyone else is a disgrace. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 237Feb 11, 2013 12:10 pm They may put it in the variations process???? A few things were missed in ours also, for example we added a freestanding bath which was down as a standard bath, this got sorted in this process. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 238Feb 12, 2013 4:52 pm I built with a different builder but I dont think you should have to pay the deposit until you are sure you are getting what you want and the cost. We had to pay part of our deposit ($850, I think) to get the soil tests etc done so that we had a firm price for the footings, other than that we didn't pay any more until we were satisfied we had gone as far as we could prior to selections, then we paid the remainder of the deposit, up to 3k. Once we paid the deposit we did the selections and added to the costs with our upgrades for taps, kitchen etc, which were done as a variation and added to the original price. Once selections are finalised, any further changes can incur a variation fee (at the discretion of the builder). This is our experience, hope it helps. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Hartley 361- build 240Feb 12, 2013 9:29 pm Yes with DFH it's $500 if variations are changed after! We have tiles starting and the electricians been through! Very happy seeing them there today hopefully carpet and floor not far behind Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17601 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23765 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23894 |
