Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 09, 2012 8:40 pm Hi everyone I'm hoping some of you can give me advice. We are nearly finished building our house (ORLANDO 35) and have some minor problems. The main one is the builder has installed a 2 heating ducts in the dining room and none in the adjoining living room. This has left us with no form of heating in the biggest room. The show house of our design has the heating duct in the dining room in an ideal location. The builder is suggesting installing a cavity in the corner of the bedroom to get the ducting to the downstairs living room, this will look out of place in the bedroom and spoil what has been a great build so far. What can we do?? Any ideas greatly appreciated Thanks. Re: What to do when thing haven't gone in to plan. 2Sep 09, 2012 9:26 pm I guess the problem you have is that the builder can't really do anything down on the ground floor without making a right mess of the plaster on the corresponding second storey wall. Looking at the design it looks like there might already be a small void they might be able to use near the door of bedroom 2. If that's not possible then I'm guessing that they'd be looking to perhaps run the duct down a new void at the top right corner of bedroom 2 - I can't really see anywhere else they'd be able to run it down tbh without disrupting something else. Some people apparently have nothing better to do than comment on other people's sigs. Re: What to do when thing haven't gone in to plan. 4Sep 09, 2012 9:59 pm The plan show the duct in the living room but have a note saying approximate location. We are not potentially stuck with something we don't want. Either a duct in the wrong place or the formation of a new cavity in a bedroom. Not an ideal solution. Re: What to do when thing haven't gone in to plan. 5Sep 09, 2012 10:10 pm if there was a duct in the living room on the plans and now there is NOT a duct in the living room, then make them accountable for it. The term "approximate location" refers to the duct being installed close to the plan (maybe slightly not exact due to trusses or floor joists) 1 383 i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17279 5 10488 |
