Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Need more advice about layout, please... (so over this!) 41Apr 01, 2008 12:14 pm I envy you. I tried MVH the other day, and it seems difficult. I will try again when my school assignment is done (i am still a student, can you beleive that!)
reading from above post, another compromise to make your ensuite a better access is to delete the "room" for the TV. Re: Need more advice about layout, please... (so over this!) 42Apr 01, 2008 12:20 pm I agree. Personally I'd never make the structure of the house suit a piece of electronics. The TV will be on the junk heap in maybe a decade and who knows what the "visual display unit" of 2020 may be. Re: Need more advice about layout, please... (so over this!) 43Apr 01, 2008 12:43 pm Matt I thought that we'd put some kind of timber louvre, with thick slats and small gaps, on the outside of the toilet and use "distorted" glass for the window so that people can't see in. Would that help?
oznow, perservere with the software, it's not easy but you'll get the hang of it. Definitely do the tutorials, I jumped straight in without doing them and found it really difficult but once you do the tutorials it all comes together. I agree with you and cabinfever about the tv recess, especially with flat screen tvs etc, it does not need to be 60cm deep. We do already have the unit but I'm being silly. I'm going to reduce it to 30 and buy a new tv unit! Cabinfever, we're actually just going to have a piece of glass next to the vanity cabinet to protect it and no shower cabinet as such. Just the glass and a ceiling rain style shower head. I put the shower in to size it and forgot to remove it. Agree about the vanity, not enough room. An extra 30cm from the tv recess will solve that problem, thanks again! Thanks so much guys, thank god for this place!! Re: Need more advice about layout, please... (so over this!) 44Apr 01, 2008 12:53 pm Forgot to answer your last question Cabinfever. I guess we want somewhere with a cosy lounge, space for some bean bags etc, but still open so we can see coming and goings. We have another room downstairs with doors if we wanted to create a more "theatre" style room.
No sub woofers etc for us, but who knows, maybe in the future, but they can go into the room downstairs! Play stations and the like can also go downstairs! As for resale, yes, it's much better now that a couple of walls would convert it to a fourth bedroom. Re: Need more advice about layout, please... I would avoid the alfresco or main living windows facing west because of the afternoon sun, but then the afternoon sun is very harsh here and the land is very flat. If you live somewhere cold and more shaded you may think the reverse and want to capture the afternoon sun. Re: Need more advice about layout, please... There is a block of Townhouses on Old Northern Rd in between Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills in NSW. This is a very busy rd and in one of these town house you can see straight thru the frosted glass and into the toilet. The Silhouette is very noticable when someone is on the thrown. How about one way mirror glass, you would be paranoid but nobody could see you. New guests would be really worried. The acid will provide for required bond key with new concrete. 1 36960 |
