The pool itself is now finished, but we need two weeks of solid sunshine before the landscaping/levelling can be completed as the ground is still too wet to get machinery in. Like your letterbox too, will be showing DH, but not sure if I can entice some enthusiasm for a DIYfer. Re: Stellabella's build- Front garden and turf done! 587Apr 28, 2013 1:43 pm It looks amazing! Your pool looks so nice! Oh, and the letterbox is gorgeous! This is the kind that I originally wanted, but DH insisted on brick. I just thought I would make some notes on what I would change next time - not necessarily for the plan, layout etc, just small things relevant to any build we do: -Pet doors - I would get these on EVERY door with a security screen! We only have one on the laundry door which is a bit annoying. If we had one also in our bedroom and the dining room, it'd be so much easier for all of us! -No high gloss tiles! My cleaner started this week but they are literally dirty again after a few hours, especially with a cat. The floors need mopping every few days and it's so annoying. -I would tile floor-ceiling on all walls in both bathrooms. We didn't originally (just one wall in each) because of the cost, but now I wish we just did it. I'm going to find out if it's still possible to have this done. -Cabinetry in the laundry - we've had this in every rental we've lived in, but didn't think it would be a big deal not to have it in this house - mistake! Miss my cupboards already. Will post pics of my solution soon. -Some fancy solution for the utensil draw -Not use the same bloody pool builder! Things I love that we will continue in every house: -The Zip tap! Best thing ever! -Having all downlights and no normal lights, all 'cool' tones. I think it looks so much better. -Grey walls! I'm going to have ALL grey throughout next time! -Paying the cabinetmaker to fit out the WIR. Love it. -Having no showerscreens on the shower in the ensuite - I'd do this in both bathrooms next time -Shower recesses! Genius idea! -Built in shelving -Hebel. The insulation qualities are absolutely amazing, and it saves so much time on bricking That's all I can think of for now. We will hopefully have a completed pool area in about a month, so will update with pics then! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 594May 12, 2013 11:21 pm Good constructive update, I have really enjoyed your build Mrs A Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 595May 13, 2013 9:54 am bradster181 Good constructive update, I have really enjoyed your build Mrs A +1 Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 596May 13, 2013 9:56 am Can I ask why you think you need more pet doors? We've only planned for one too, but now I'm a bit worried. Our house will be smaller than yours though, so maybe that will make a difference. MV - it's just annoying having the door in the laundry because it's kind of out of the way, it's really just laziness. I think it would just be easier to have one on each of the security doors so he can go in/out wherever he wants, instead of just the one side of the house. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 598May 17, 2013 8:39 am Good feedback. We aren't having any shower screens in the bathrooms either so good to know you are happy with yours Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 599Aug 21, 2013 3:44 pm Hi Stellabella, I have just finished reading your posts. I found it by googling damask tiles. Your damask tiles are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Ive been into the tile shops in my country town in Victoria with no success. Are you able to help me out with the details and or where you got them from?? Super dooper looking forward to your reply!! Allison Re: Stellabella's build- Changes/likes and dislikes, post bu 600Aug 25, 2013 9:47 am Hi Alli, I will get back to you Monday with the name of the tiles. The shop was Cooloola Tile Centre, and I have a feeling the name was something like Opera Snow, but I will definitely check and get back to you. Well, I haven't been on in a while. We have booked another trip to the US for November this year, so most of my online time has been devoted to researching that! We haven't done too much more around the house, until the pool area is finished (the pool builder's are coming tomorrow, apparently...just six months after they started!). We've done a few little things inside though (excuse the quality, some are phone pics): We finally got a new, king size doona cover: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We got the 'wedding wall' up: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We finally bought a bookcase for the study (yet to find a display shelf for the dining area): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We put some floating shelves up in the media room: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also put up a shelf the same as that in the laundry, since we have no cabinetry in there. Our builder also had a photographer come around and take photos of the house for their new magazine, we haven't seen it yet though. Hopefully by the end of the week, I will have landscaped pool area photos for you! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 13635 I ended up going with 'Andrew Belic Construction Co.' https://www.instagram.com/andrewbelicconstruction/ 2 59658 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely!
