I really wanted them but somehow got onto parapets for the whole lot! My next house..... will have them in a Tuscan style. Looking forward to seeing it finished Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Window and Door Pics plus S 197Nov 20, 2012 7:54 pm Yay! It's coming along so well, looks lovely. How exciting for you! Also - you have a stunning family! And I love your daughters dress. How much did the alterations end up costing? The grand total for alterations for my dress came in at - wait for it - $50! And that includes her also taking up hubby's pants. Gotta love the old local lady lol! And yes, I'd love to hear about the tiles! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Window and Door Pics plus S 198Nov 21, 2012 7:38 am Tree - fingers crossed for you that the fire rating is not too high for you to have them as they really are such a lovely feature. reindeer - It didn't cost any extra to go with this door only to increase the height of it, I was a little nervous after I picked it but I needed a pivot door that would go with the style of our house. I haven't seen one before either so whats with that? as I searched all over the internet for a pic and couldn't find one. PS_Sirrocco7 - I'm loving the steel frames as well even if they have delayed us I think they were worth it in the end. Nina - Not stressing about my daughter yet and she is obviously not missing us as she has only called once. I didn't get the whole formal thing either as my husband and I grew up in a small town and the year 12 formal back then was nothing like it is now and I am so glad I have another five years before I have to go through it again. Mac25 - After seeing house after house on Houzz with rafter tails you can imagine how exciting it was to find a project builder including them in a frontage. Your parapets are very classy Mac. I keep saying that "next house" for everything we didn't manage for this house. Stellabella - Welcome back. Well I can't beat $50 for an alteration, what a bargain. Mine was $150, she did a great job and thankfully it was finished a week before formal. Thinking I might put it into a shadow box frame and hang it in her room as she is having turquoise as her accent colour for her room. Just have to say it is sooo much harder to find a a pink dress for a 12 year old that's not flowergirlish or to babyish but I finally found one, would rather go formal shopping any day. Lets just say in regards to our recent tile expedition to Brisbane it was very stressful made worse by the two of us arguing. Somehow we ended up at either warehouses not open to the public or really crappy tile stores that had nothing and I started to panic we wouldn't find anything. It takes forever to get anywhere in the city and we were on a time limit to get back to Toowoomba for a prayer mass for school. We finally came across two tiles that were the closest to what I was looking for but I then couldn't decide on which one would match our wall tile the best. Oh so much fun for my husband and daughter while I tried to decide... I don't think she will ever set foot in tile stores again. We finally got a late lunch around 3 but in the end we did find a tile that is totally impractical but is closer to my inspiration pics I love and the right size for it to go in the shower. I don't think we would do well on the amazing race as getting lost does not bring out the best in us. Lol I'm glad I only had boys. My girls would have HATED me, I would have been a real strict Mum, so scary out there these days...Our boys only had a formal dinner at their school. No one was really wanting to do the dance thing... When "tuscan" came in- during the 90's or was it the noughties? with no eaves etc only very few elevations of house still did rafter tails. Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Window and Door Pics plus S 200Nov 21, 2012 2:35 pm Yes tree, we did order the "impractical tile" which I think will be their new name I'll be calling them something else when I have to clean them why can't I be practical? We ran out of time to actually purchase whilst in Brisbane but hubby placed the order today after he rang around for the best price, they should be here within two weeks as they are stocked in Melbourne. The tile shop here in Toowoomba were so lovely to search around for them for us but wanted to charge $75 plus a $5 shipping fee I didn't realise that there weren't many tiles in this style in Porcelain in the 600x300 size or maybe it's just in our area?? Hi VK, Think it's worth investing time in an Owner Builder course to equip you with basic knowledge on Australian Building Industry and its regulations. Also, I suggest… 11 23735 Caesarstone, quantum zero, Q Stone zero, porcelain. All the manufacturers are pivoting into zero silica materials. Google any of those and have a look.
