Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 03, 2012 9:37 pm Hi everyone This is my first post here so please excuse me if its in the wrong spot. We are building our first house and went for the external colour selection last week. We chose PGH Sorbetto, a slurry brick. We were advised by our builder what they are (painted exterior, can chip and expose colour etc) and on the bottom of the colour selection it states that they take no responsibility for chipping. Sooo, our heads tell us we need to chose a non slurry brick. However our hearts want the Sorbetto. I am worried about our cost that we may incur if we have to render the house due to severe chipping etc. I am after a bit more recent feedback as most of the information I can find on them chipping is from a few years back. Thank you in advance, Samantha Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: Are all slurry bricks doomed to chip? 2Sep 04, 2012 12:01 pm Have a look here http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59210 At least your builder is explaining the cons to you. Thank you Lex After talking to our builder today who said our concern of them chipping was a very valid concern (and one that he did bring up in the colour selection but we didn't realise the severity of the potential problem) and telling us that he personally wouldn't choose a slurry brick for his own home we have decided to change our brick. Now to find one that we can agree on without having to change the rest of our colour selections Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: Are all slurry bricks doomed to chip? 4Sep 04, 2012 1:59 pm We have a brick similar to Sorbetto - think from memory PGH Palazzo Chiara. Three years on and they still look as gorgeous as they did when we took control of the house. Sure there are slight chips around but I don't notice them as a whole. Some things are worth waiting for. A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home. We managed to reach practical completion 6 weeks ago but we haven't heard any date for handover yet.
