Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 03, 2012 6:35 pm Hello everyone! What an amazing forum this is, I've learnt so much already just from a week of going though posts here We are in the very first stage of building our home with WA Housing Centre/BGC, so far we've chosen our block and house plan and have put a deposit on both but that's as far as we've got. I'm trying REALLY hard not to get too excited just yet as I know we have a long way to go!! I would love to know if anyone else has built with WAHC and what your experience was like, and also if anyone else is building in Millbridge (Eaton, WA) at the moment or recently? Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 2Sep 16, 2012 1:58 pm Hi Kylie I think not sure how far along you guys are now but Im at the same stage. Chosen a block, house plan. Just need to wait till november when the land titles get released. What plan are u going with? Im building with wa housing centre as well. Anyway good luck with everything Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 3Sep 16, 2012 10:58 pm Hi jamsem, we are going with the Optima. Which one have you chosen? We're waiting on formal approval at the moment which hopefully will be in a couple of weeks! Where are you building? I'm so happy I've found another WAHC-er!! Thank you, and good luck to you too! Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 4Sep 19, 2012 7:08 pm Gday Guys, We too are building with WAHC in Dalyellup. Im so glad that there are finally some people from Bunbury also building with them that we can read up on and follow aswell. We too are going with a version of the optima and are just about to start construction. How have you guys found things so far? Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 5Sep 19, 2012 7:21 pm Oh yay!! Another one Hi Dave! We're only at the veeeery beginning, but so far so good! I don't think we're even close to construction yet, still sorting out finance and contracts etc. Have you started a thread yet Dave? I'd love to follow and see how everything is going with you since you're ahead of us! Re: Building with WA Housing Centre 6Sep 24, 2012 10:15 pm Hey guys, I am building with WA Housing centre too with my fiance. We are building the Optima too but in Banksia Grove. How are you guys finding WAHC so far? We signed in Jan, titles for land were released in April. We have found that they have dragged their feet as we still arent even in council for approval yet. Still waiting for them to finish pre start and we had our pre start meeting 6 weeks ago. not having fun at the moment. Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 7Oct 04, 2012 12:19 pm Hey Kylie sorry for the delayed reply. Ive chosen the Diamond from the platinum range. Once I get everything sorted Ill be building in Baldivas. How have u found things with WAHC? Hope ur plans are going well Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 9Feb 11, 2013 3:38 pm Hi Kylie I am at this stage now, in Millbridge too but not with WAHC. How is yours coming along now?? Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 10Feb 12, 2013 6:56 pm Hi Sam & Tony We've had some major issues with getting finance (my partner hadn't been in his job for long enough) so at the moment we are STILL at the same stage as we were back in September when I started this thread!! Very very frustrating but can't be helped unfortunately. Whereabouts in Millbridge are you building? We might end up being neighbours! Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 11May 06, 2013 10:59 am Just a quick update - We FINALLY have our finance and settlement has gone through, now we're just waiting to find out when building will start, yippeeee!! Sam & Tony, how is yours going? Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 12May 16, 2013 11:24 pm Hi Kylie! I'm so sorry I only just seen your last two posts That's great news congrats!!!! We just did Pre start a week ago and decided to pull out of them doing our tiles and carpets and blinds cause I really didnt like the selection (or price!) so just waiting to sign on them We are building on surrey !!!! How bout you? Yay possible neighbors hehe Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 13May 17, 2013 8:43 am Oooh we will be sort of neighbours! Well, in the same neighbourhood lol. We're on Reuben Way which is the street just before Surrey. It's amazing how fast the houses are going up over there! The block nextdoor to us was just sand a few weeks ago and now their slab is done and most of the bricks are up. At the moment we're still just sand but the sand has all been pushed up into the shape of the house and compacted so hopefully we'll get our slab very very soon!! Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 14May 18, 2013 6:31 pm Ohhh awesome I know Rueben! I drive past and look at the new houses getting built all the Time! I will have to keep an eye out on hours We just got the crossover letter from the shire - am I supposed to do anything with that? Lol What elevation did you get? Sorry if you've already written it somewhere hehe and what colours are you doing your render! I think we are doing something called mouse, (but I loved dune! But Pre start lady talked my fiancé out of it boo haha) Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 16May 18, 2013 7:13 pm Haha I'm the same, I always check out the other houses lol. It's exciting to see how quickly they go up, I hope ours goes up quickly too! I'm not sure about the crossover letter, we didn't do anything with ours and no one has mentioned it yet, hopefully someone will let us know! We took the render out at pre-start and we're just having bricks all over. We chose kind of darkish grey bricks with a really light colourbond roof (almost white I think) We've driven around everywhere looking at the finished houses and I can't find ANYONE with that combo which is a bit of a worry lol, I wanted to get an idea of what it's going to look like! What have you picked? Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 17May 31, 2013 12:06 am Hi I am building with WAHC a modified Diamond in Piara Waters. At the moment I am really disappointed with them, they are slow in their communication, takes weeks to get a simple response, They have major delays with getting the final plans ready (something about a backlog with the drafting section) and its been 2 1/2 months after prestart. I am beginning to regret ever signing up with them. Anyone having similar issues with them?? Building in Piara Waters Re: Building in Millbridge with WA Housing Centre 18Jun 07, 2013 7:54 pm Ohh awesome! Sorry I really need notifications on this thing coz I always forget to check it lol All our stuff is signed from 2 weeks ago and just waiting for them to start with the slab!!! They best not take to long! Haha Your colour combo sounds really nice and I love just brick houses - other half wouldn't let us have that though >:/ Calypso - does WAHC stand for homebuyers centre lol If so - now that things are signed and even with Pre start, it took ages for responses to the simplest questions! Don't regret them, I'm Pretty sure they are all the same blah Hi All, see above image.
