Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 02, 2012 6:31 am Hi, we chose a painted brick for our build and yesterday when they started the cleaning process it began to remove colour almost immediately from the brick! Cleaner tried all different levels of acid, distances away etc to try and sort it on the spot with no luck... The rep has agreed to meet onsite monday to discuss, but my question is did anyone else have this happen to them and if so was there a solution? Freaking out a bit Check out our blog below! What type of brick was it? You might get more responses if we know what brick coy and name of the brick. I am sure the builder will try and rectify the problem, otherwise bad publicity for them if their brick selection for their homes is of bad quality. Hope it gets sorted for you quick smart. With regards to the builder, he has a relationship with a wholesaler that deals with all brick companies, so the final choice was mine.... He pushed for an austral brick but my wife and I thought the Boral one suited our schemes a little more, so its not really on them, but obviously theyre still chasing it for us! We also use boral mist not sure what they cleaned ours with? But they've turned out pretty good. hope it gets resolved for u asap. Re: Brick Issues 5Sep 02, 2012 8:45 pm You'll probably get Nawkaw-ed BTW, some brick co's have poor or zero of proper explanation of their stuff. They love to talk about butterfiles and sunny skies and beach colours and bla bla bla sales pitch. The essence of each type of brick should be clearly explained in plain language. Eg., a painted brick should be described as painted brick. And then stressed again that it's just a painted brick. And then explained what could happen during the clean. But does it ever? Some owners never even knew that bricks will be jet washed. An indifferent person jet washing painted bricks ... now that's a scary image!! Otherwise buyers keep learning the hard way. The show goes on. Lucky you had a great cleaner who tried everything! Others would just continue and scorch the bricks to the point where pieces or chunks of bricks go missing! Not a good sight on a painted brick. You also probably got a bad batch My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Brick Issues 6Sep 02, 2012 10:02 pm Nayzv That's upsetting! Transport, larborers and tradesman were more of the concern... Still got everything crossed that there will be an easy fix... Check out our blog below! The section we tested and had the issue with would have been laid just over 1 week prior... Some sections however will have been laid well over 2 weeks ago now, we had a shortage and had to wait a week between running out and receiving another delivery Not good if it gets harder from here...
