Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building an Inspiration with wisdom :) 41Jan 23, 2013 10:06 am Onewheel, Yes they have come back last week, been a bit flat out to update the blog the last few weeks BUT they have finished the bottom floor, scaffolding went up on the weekend and the brickies are back this week to finish it all off. Have had good progress the last few weeks, actually talked to the brickies yesterday and i thanked them for being so vigilant with the bricks, they did say wait till it is all washed it will look really nice. Funny enough we too have now had some asbestos dumped just off a neighbouring street. We will have neighbours moved in about 4 weeks from now so hopefully anyone trying to steal or dump will be caught and number plates supplied to me, i have no problems dobbing these idiots in to the authorities. Just quickly do you know what i should expect from this point on, they are finishing the 1st floor bricking but i've always wondered when do they wash the bricks and also when the tiles go up. Re: Building an Inspiration with wisdom :) 42Jan 23, 2013 12:33 pm Hi JasonW, great to hear your build is back on track. For us, once the 1st floor bricks were done, next was the guttering and facia, then the roof tiles, then the eaves, which were then painted by the painters. After all of that, only the 1st floor bricks were cleaned while the scafolding was up. Then the scafolding was removed, so they could do the ground floor roof over the garage and back leisure room. Once the ground floor roof, guttering, facia, eves were completed, then they cleaned the ground floor bricks. The bricks look really nice once cleaned. However we have only recently noticed that some of the mortor is not even in some places, not sure if it was there initially or if some got washed away during the clean. It's not too bad but we have noticed it. That is good to hear you have neighbours moving in soon, their presence will hopefully deter other people from dumping. The last block in our road, two blocks up, have now had stuff dumped. Our SS reported it to the council, but council said it was private land and would not do anything about it. The block effected is also still for sale. Anyway, we'll be the first to move at our end of the street when our house is finished, and DH works from home most of the time, his office is at the front of the house, so at least he will be able to keep an eye out during daylight hours. I also have no problem reporting these people if they are illegially dumping . However the cost to dispose of rubbish lawfully at the tip is so expensive, I can understand a little why some people do dump stuff. But then our council does offer 2 free pick up of rubbish a year. Hopefuly once we move in the dumping will stop. We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in!
