Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 31, 2012 12:32 am My husband and I are building in wildwood estate carramar with New Gen homes. In the estate we have to have 2 opposing render colors. I want to go with a brown theme, but we can't decide on the lighter render color. Our roof is colourbond ironstone, and garage door is surfmist. I love solver koala for the feature colour, but can't decide on the opposing colour. I am tossing up between solver vitesse or solver mouse. I have seen some brown whites that throw pink, which I am trying to avoid. Any advice would be appreciated! Re: Render colors 4Sep 01, 2012 12:09 pm Hi, Ironstone and Mocha colours are ok together. You are correct in saying that most people get the toning wrong and it is too late once it is on the render. If you’re not sure go the paint shop and ask what is in the formula. Having a dark roof creating extra heat and releasing it into the house can create a problem if you have to achieve a minimum house energy rating which can make it difficult to achieve. The council I am dealing with at the moment wants a 6 star rating which requires more insulation. Why not go for a medium roof colour like Jasper if you like brown with Evening Haze or Surfmist as garage door. In my opinion the best colour schemes have three colours. Two colours with one colour being the roof can look exceedingly boring and dull. I am not a fan of solver paint colours. Without an elevation plan or photo which can often be linked from the builder’s website, it makes it too difficult to comment further. Cheers PS 2 10947 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
