Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 26, 2008 4:33 pm Hi guys,
Well I am in the process of trying to finalise all my pre-contract colour selections and aside from bricks the one that is really getting to me is Roof tiles. I've visited the Boral Website and to tell you the truth all the words - Striata, Maquarie, Slimline etc confuse the beejeezers out of me!! The pictures on the site don't help a lot either as they are mainly drawings - I'd love to see completed roofs and the name/colour of the tiles you chose if its not too much trouble I am leaning towards a dark grey concrete colour through (thanks VJ ) tile, I think I prefer the the thicker ones of the flat ones but I can be swayed So... what have you got? And remember a picture tells a thousand words Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 2Mar 26, 2008 5:02 pm Ha……you want the photo with the bird poo, scum, black soot from the gun trees and a bit of green stuff growing on the tiles??????
I don’t even remember what colour my tiles are! They are a mix a crap now. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 3Mar 26, 2008 5:58 pm Hhhahah Michelle - not quite the photos I am after
Its just so hard when you see a single roof tile sample or even a small cluster of tiles on a display board - it just doesn't give you a real feel for what the completed roof would look like, thats why I am hoping someone can help!! Also in your humble opinion should roof tiles, downpipes, gutters, facias all be the one colour? Or roof tiles one colour and the rest another colour? Thanks again Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 4Mar 26, 2008 6:13 pm This depends on the rest of the house.
But mostly yes… Roof, gutters, and facias the same….downpipes may at times need to be a colour matching the bricks or render colour, so they don’t stand out. It would be best that you visit one of Boral's show rooms. You would be able to see the samples up close and can compare the different profiles and colours. I agree, the brochures and websites are not enough to help you decide on the colour and profile. Check also what's standard with PD. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 7Mar 26, 2008 7:03 pm Thanks V - do you have the address of the Boral showroom? Also can you see the tiles on a larger scale at this place? I just find looking at one tile doesn't really make it much easier to choose!
Colleen - Thank-you very much, that is very similiar to the ones I were looking at shape wipes, funnily enough Port Phillip bricks are on our short list too, we were hoping to go and check out some addresses Boral gave us this week of homes that have used them - we were thinking of off white mortar too. Thanks again - keep them coming Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 8Mar 26, 2008 7:56 pm haywgl Thanks V - do you have the address of the Boral showroom? Also can you see the tiles on a larger scale at this place? I just find looking at one tile doesn't really make it much easier to choose! Hi Have you signed up with PD ? They would have given you the address of the Boral showroom (there are 3 if i remember correctly) plus heaps of other stuff to help in your tiles / color selection. Cheers Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 9Mar 26, 2008 7:57 pm Hi Hysterical - we still haven't signed up - our sales consultant advised us to find the land first so they can see if the house we want is suitable for it, we are still searching but might have found a winner Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 10Mar 26, 2008 8:18 pm We didn't have much choice on the colours (should be mid to dark grey) and profile (should be slim line) of our roof tile... so our deciding factor was the quality and looks.
WE didn't even bother to visit the list of houses that our roof tile supplier provided us so we could have a look at how it would look on a house. Are you also considering Terracotta roof tiles? It's around $4k+ as an upgrade with M. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Very nice roof tiles you're sharing here... though the colours look the same looking at the photos ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 17Mar 27, 2008 8:47 am Thanks so much everyone - they look fantastic!!
We have narrowed it down to either Striata or Linea in the Charcoal grey - there is not a huge difference judging my the pics so we are leaning towards Linea if they are the same price, if one is cheaper we will go for that though Thanks again Another decision complete!! Re: Show and tell - Roof Tiles :) 18Mar 27, 2008 2:17 pm While we're on the subject of tiles... does anyone have any photos of Bristle roof tiles? Can't seem to find anything about them on the web.
