Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 23, 2012 10:43 am Hi all, we are right at the very start of the process of starting to plan a Knock Down and Rebuild in Lara, Geelong. We have a wide block (21m frontage x 31m deep) with street frontage to the north (I know...) and crossover pretty much stuck on the eastern side of the frontage due to a stormwater drain on the NW corner. We're considering GJ Gardner in Geelong as they are more than happy to customise their plans/design from scratch to work within these parameters. As they're a franchise, just wondering if anyone has any feedback on the Geelong branch for us or recommendations of any other builders in the area? A couple of Dennis Family plans are quite appealing & suitable with some tweaking as well. Searches on here and Mr Google haven't turned anything up (which may or may not be a good sign - no rave reviews but no disasters for people to report either). Cheers Anne ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Eeek - We're embarking on a knockdown rebuild! Be prepared for a Long contract wait so if you are near ready and want one of their homes I'd go and speak to them ASAP and get the ball rolling! We signed an estimate In April we are now in August and I believe we are on the cusp of them starting on site shortly. We are building the Hartley 361 with a few changes! They have been ok (just ok) so far there have been a few frustrating moments, we have seen many mistakes in the contracts and time wasted with certain issues. Allow yourself a good 4 to 5 months for contracts any earlier is a bonus, some people might argue they got theirs earlier, but I'm only going on my experience to date!! I do however see that there are a lot of DFH Going up in Geelong as I was there over the weekend. It's worth talking to them they have fantastic designs that they are pretty good with amending if need be. Good luck Hi, We are looking for a builder that can build a small home (smaller length) on a sloping site. We came across Mojo's Zephyr design 10.6 m wide and 11.5 m length. Does… 0 23029 May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13260 |
