Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Abode Design & Construct 2Sep 18, 2012 4:24 pm Hi Fernley, I'm talking to them regarding a build at the southeast region at the moment. They are quoting me for the building permit stage. I'm at the contract stage with another volume builder but am having doubts about them so I'm talking to abodedac. Will keep posting on this thread as things move along. Thanks! Re: Building with Abode Design & Construct 4Oct 25, 2012 8:05 pm Hi, Just to update. Just made some adjustments to the initial working drawings. Will have to wait 2 weeks for the final working drawings to get done. A little understaffed if you ask me. Did anyone engage them as well? Re: Building with Abode Design & Construct 5Dec 10, 2012 10:02 am Hi, Finished Building permit stage with them. Just to clarify this stage doesn't include getting you a permit. Just the docs required for the permit or so they say... Been trying to work through the building quote with them for the last 2 weeks but after I've made payment to them for the BP stage, I can't seem to get the person in charge on the phone. Land's been empty for the last 3 weeks so I'm itching to start construction. Hopefully I can get in touch with them soon. Will keep posting updates. Re: Building with Abode Design & Construct 6Jan 10, 2013 10:30 am Hi all, Happy New year! Still working through the construction cost with AbodeDAC. However, I'm not happy that a lot of the docs are not finalized and some incomplete. I've spoken to them about it and the draftie is going to make the amendments. With regards to finalizing the docs, they've told me that that won't be done until I select a builder because of the builder's preference of building surveyor will dictate who will endorse the plans. However, I'm still unhappy that they've issued the final invoice (which I've paid! Idiot!) even before all the docs are set and ready for building permit application. Their QWERTY system isn't what I'd expected as well. It's only just as good as the person who inputs the information into the system and most of the time the documents aren't up to date. Hopefully they will improve on this. So anyone engaged them for a job as well? Will keep updating. Re: Building with Abode Design & Construct 7Jan 24, 2013 7:12 am Hi, I have done both town planning permit and building permit (or should i say the working drawings for the BP phase) with them. They have good intentions, but in honesty, i have to say their processes are inefficient, they are understaffed - i think they take on more work than they can handle and therefore customer service suffers. We had to make numerous iterations, mostly due to errors their drafters made. Often we would have to wait weeks for a change to be made, even simple things. There is only one key person who really knows the industry (the owner) and he is often flat out. In the end, if i had my choice again, I would not go with ADAC. Don't just make your decision based on price (they gave me a really competitive price) - as you sometimes get what you pay for. And don't be surprised when your final bill is larger than your initial quote, particularly if you have to pay for their errors due to continual changes to the drawings. From a pure legal perspective, if you've signed the variation, it is a very high bar to have it set aside. No-one can give you legal advice on a forum, but you would need… 3 5477 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13833 Once you know the basics, the rest is easy.
