Been told that you need to water your slab with the hose while it's drying to stop it from cracking...
Can someone comment on that? Is it necessary to do or not?

Otherwise you'd see a lot of the kit-home companies coming by to water the slabs they lay (after all a 7 year warranty is a long time...) In Perth in summer, absolutely. Soak it , then soak it again. You feel and look like a moron watering concrete, but ask the guys that pour it, the longer it takes to cure the better. Curing is different to drying. If concrete dries to quick it can shrink and crack because the concrete hasnt cured enough and is not strong enough to resist cracking.
