Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 15, 2012 11:31 pm Just finalising our kitchen window sizes - I want the wide narrow windows in the kitchen - the ones that go between the overhead cupboards and kitchen bench. What I am looking at is my kitchen being 5.3m wide. My stove will go in the middle - measuring 900m. this leaves 4.4. I am wanting my windows to be 2 windows of 2200 wide and I think the height is about 650. The builders have said it will cost a fair bit to have windows that length as they have to be thicker to be strong enough as they are so long. Does anyone know anythign about this sort of thing? I have seen these windows in a lot of displays and cant imagine they are that expensive to do. Thanks in advance Re: window sizes and strengths? 2Aug 16, 2012 12:06 pm Hi, Put your query on the windows and doors forum. There is a great guy there by the name of Ed who can help you. I myself have a window 600mm x 2850mm for my theater room. just a little note with what will restrict you in some respect as it did to me is a requirement that any liveable room must have total window area = > 20% of its floor space . Thats what I was told by the builder anyway. Cheers and good luck with your endeavour.
