Re: what is needed for bushfire assessment of 12.5 ? 2Aug 14, 2012 4:41 pm This is what we needed for 12.5. We are building with Rawson All openable windows to be fitted with corrosion resistant aluminium screens Provide all external doors to be fitted with weatherstrips Provide all external hung doors to be fitted with corrosion resistant aluminium mesh screens with a maximum aperture size of 1.8mm Provide all external sliding doors to be fitted with corrosion-resistant aluminium mesh screens with a maximum aperture size of 1.8mm Provide emberseal Garagedoorkit Provide all weep holes and vents to be fitted with sparkguardsmadefromcorrosion-resistant aluminium with a maximum aperture size of 1.8mm. I know when we were looking at building with McDonald Jones, they said that external door jambs had to be made of fire resistant wood, but Rawson have not mentioned this. Rawson were less than $3000, can't remember exactly as they have flyscreens as standard on the windows and sliding doors. We didn't have screens included as standard but I did add fly screens to all windows and doors as an option in gallery, so hopefully it shouldn't be much more to upgrade from what I assume is cheap plastic standard screens to aluminium screens! Having land just title today, hopefully won't be long until we know! Re: what is needed for bushfire assessment of 12.5 ? 8Aug 25, 2012 6:44 pm BAL 12.5 is peanuts. the building commission say about $5000 so some builders charge $5000. what is needed for bushfire assessment of 12.5 ? 9Aug 30, 2012 10:22 am Hello everyone, I am also building on a Bushfire affected lot. The Bushfire rating is 12.5. Had a question around Weepholes.. How many Weepholes does an average size building have... Can anyone shed some light on this... Would a quote of $900 be reasonable to address Weepholes using high performance weeper product? The product per 25 units costs around $50-$60..with installation very straightforward during bricking. Appreciate your thoughts.
