Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Building 743May 16, 2013 4:39 pm Jen1977 Congrats carak Glad to hear that you have made a decision and signed a tender. What is your timeframe from here Thanks Jen, yes finally made a decision Timeframe is wait for external to be signed off - early next week. When Building plans are drawn and contract prepared, check, read and check and read again then sign. Pay balance of deposit, submit to council and wait. While we wait finish doing internal colours, electrical etc. Time will tell how long Hornsby Council take to approve DA's - no idea, don't want to get to excited I know there is a long way to go before we get to knock the old house down and start building but at least we are on the way. Jen your house is looking AMAZING, you must be getting so excited, how long now? Have you started planting all your plants or are you waiting until the builders leave the site? Hope there are no more broken bones in your family for a very, very long time, your children have really been in the wars lately bet they can't wait to move into their new home. Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Building 744May 16, 2013 6:22 pm Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pleased for you carak.... how exciting you're on your way. Took a drive around our estate today, funny haven't done it since we moved in, saw more during our build! Anyway, when we handed over in March, they were going to start building 2 homes - saw them today and frames completed and one has bricks - the other is a monster - I have never seen such a massive roof it is enormous - not sure when they started but must have been around April - anyway, I was dumbfounded as to how fast they have gone up so they are certainly still flying through construction.. Anyway, can't wait to follow your progress and congrats again - P.S Your colours look GREAT Blog: http://cbcbuild.blogspot.com.au/ Building Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62155 Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Building 745May 16, 2013 6:34 pm We have about 5 or so weeks until handover. The stone bench tops will be installed next week and both the painting and tilers start next week. We have been planting, we are going to start turfing as well before handover. DH has the day off tomorrow and we we are going to build the gabion walls at the front gates. The kids are really excited. I can't believe that we have had two broken arms at the block and we haven't even moved in. Hopefully it will be the last for a long time. Love your colours. Are your bricks from the standard range? Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Building 748May 17, 2013 11:17 am Well done! Great colors, wish I had insisted on the colored drive, I was looking at gun metal also. Good luck!!!! Love your colours. Are your bricks from the standard range? Thanks UpsizeTime no I am afraid the bricks were an upgrade but just couldn't find anything else that 'felt' right. Ryan 1977 Carak so pleased it is all coming together for you & hope council don't keep you waiting too long. Love, love, love, your colours. Thanks Ryan yes that is one of my big fears, a slow, picky council. SunshineT Well done! Great colors, wish I had insisted on the colored drive, I was looking at gun metal also. Good luck!!!! Thanks T, so many different colours, hopefully everything will 'blend' but not look too boring. Re: Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Buildin 750May 22, 2013 9:46 am Received the External Colour Variations late Monday afternoon, all looks good. Just a couple of questions that we had to ask our lovely colour girl. Questions asked yesterday, no problems. In the mail yesterday was a very large envelope - opened it and there was the Contract....WOW this is REALLY happening. Lots & lots of reading of the contract. I am not very good at understanding 'legal talk' but thankfully I do know how to 'google'. Re: Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Buildin 751May 24, 2013 9:16 am Received a call from the lovely L yesterday (colour girl) asking about signing off on the external variations. Looks as though she is not able to send the colour image of the 'finished' house... so a little bit disappointed about that, would love to see what the house looks like with the colours we have chosen. We (well mainly me) are having second thoughts about the moroka colour, the colour that we have, Hamstead, is very brown, so we are now looking at Gallagher.... I hate making decisions.... Still reading the contract, found a couple of things we need to ask about but all looks o.k. We want to start building soon but want to make sure that everything is 'perfect' before we sign the contract. Re: Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Buildin 752May 24, 2013 1:28 pm huzzah for having a contract and picking your colours- would be nice to be able to see what it will all look like at the end! I hate making decisions.... Have you painted these colours from sample pots? Highly, highly recommend it. They are always so different when you paint them in real life, including on different elevations (eg. east, west, north, south) with the shade and sun. If you are knocking down your existing place and no one is there, why not get some pots and paint a few external walls - then you will know exactly how it looks at it will actually be on your site. We did this when we were choosing moroka and were amazed and how different they were in different lights. On the contract - they are all pretty standard. Despite working in contracts on a daily basis, for our house contract I barely made any changes. Only specific things for our build such as items we were doing ourselves, the $300 weekly rent guarantee (as Zen offer this whereas the standard contract doesn't), 12 month maintenance period (again, Zen offer 12 months but the standard contract they gave us said 3 months which is what most builders use). Good luck! Agree TinaG I am hopeless at making decisions and to be honest poor DH, as I have found with a few other males, is a bit colour blind, so seeing the colours put together would certainly help. What a great idea, I have been so busy trying to work things out that my head has stopping thinking. O.K. off the Bunnings again tomorrow. SunshineT On the contract - they are all pretty standard. Good luck! Not really 'into' contracts, all that clause this, clause that, section this, section that... if we are not sure we will certainly be asking for professional help. Don't want to sign anything that I am not 100% sure of. REALLY looking forward to the building part (or not). Re: Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Buildin 755May 24, 2013 4:38 pm Quick update...... The wonderful L at Kurmond has just sent through the colour board and the 'photoshopped' image of what our house will look like when it is built. Can't seem to upload the photo to Photobucket at the moment but will try again later. Re: Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Buildin 756May 27, 2013 10:24 am O.k. finally got back to the computer.... We have been wondering about the moroka colour for the front porch, when we sat with L to do the external colours we chose two Hamstead and Gallagher. After what seemed like forever, we chose Hamstead. Over the last week and definitely on the weekend when we took our brick and the colour cards to the house to check out the colours in the sun and at different angles we have changed our mind (what's new, we are always changing our mind ). Before we did this experiment we went to Bunnings to get sample pots but when the man brought the colours up on the computer you could really tell the difference and he also told us what percentages of what was in the paint. So we saved ourselves $20 on sample pots and just went with our own judgement. So we are changing the colour to Gallagher (the Hamstead was a bit more brown) This is the house with the Hamstead but the Gallagher is a little and I mean little bit more 'blue' also I am quite sure that the downpipe is not down the right hand side of the house. What do you think?? Re: OMG what are we doing - Tender Signed We Are Building 757May 27, 2013 10:28 am Love it Carak Do you have an updated floor plan?
