Browse Forums Building A New House Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 61May 21, 2013 11:52 am Spoke to Helen at the weekend and apparently Releases 3-6 are getting registered at the same time, hopefully within the next two weeks!! Hopefully it happens this time, I really want to start building Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 62May 21, 2013 12:43 pm Question!! We are about to start building (hopefully next couple of weeks) We have just noticed that either the house that's building next door or behind us had dumped large lot of dirt on our block. Our builders have advised they won't commence work and could delay production if such things are there. We enquired with Helen who stated we contact council. Council have advised can't do anything unless its rubbish. Is it a good idea to approach the builders of both homes and discuss matter. I don't want to make any trouble, but need this sorted. Suggestions? Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 64May 27, 2013 7:43 pm I am so glad you posted this. We have just bought land in East Village (release 3) and were very concerned about how long the land will take to register. I am going to phone the land sales office tomorrow to confirm and then celebrate Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 66Jun 13, 2013 4:52 pm So happy the land is registered. We have been looking at brick colours, guttering and roof. So hard to choose. Our plans have been sent back for some minor changes. It's all starting to happen. Yay!!!! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 68Jul 07, 2013 7:33 pm So exciting!! After all that rain we had we thought it would be ages before work was going to commence on our lot. Last Sunday went to have a look and the land was soaked, but on Wednesday they benched the site, fenced off, Friday piering was done( we went over our allowance and we thought we would be under) and yesterday they filled the holes with concrete. Now we wait for the slab to be done. Pretty impressed that all this happened in less than a week and after all the rain we got! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 71Jul 11, 2013 3:18 pm Hi Denber, Congrat to your building progress. We are currently in line to have our piers and slab done in Lowan Street (been waiting for ages, but they still cant give us a definitely start date ). You mentioned your piers were over and it scares me. We have 110 metres as our allowance and anything over, we pay for. Were you over by much?, I guess it gives us an indication on what to expect with our place. Cheers Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 72Jul 11, 2013 4:57 pm Oh I drive in your street on the way to mine who is your builder? Pretty sure we had allowance of 85metres and our builder said we should be fine with that and even go under, but that didn't happen!! We are yet to hear back from builder, but from what we worked out think we have to form out about $3,500!! Don't know what the exact metres were- would need to confirm with my fiancé. Now we gotta work out where we are going to dump all the dirt that is not needed at a reasonable price. Think we have close to 50 tonne to get rid of- arghhh. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 73Jul 11, 2013 8:00 pm Hey Denber, We are also building the verdelho with beechwood. Our is the one in lowan street, benched and ready to go for the past three weeks. So how did you guys go with Costa's??? we are awaiting their quote for extra electrical stuff and not feeling very confident it will be within our budget. I may end up having to finding my own sparky to get things done (anyone know of a sparky at very reasonable price?). Whats the go with having to remove dirt yourself?? isn't it included?? Were you there when they piered for inspection? I just get nervous about hidden cost. Cheers Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 74Jul 11, 2013 8:10 pm Oh wow, your also building the Verdelho! I wonder why yours has just been sitting there for 3 weeks. Ours was benched, piering was done and slab almost on all in one week! Strange! We haven't had our appointment with Costas yet. Not till 29th. Do you have to go in there with a plan of what you want, or do they go through everything with you? Removal of dirt was listed in our tender that owners had to remove. It wasn't listed that on yours?? If you don't mind me asking, how much did they quote for that? Yup, my partner and I were there for the piering on Friday. The workers were pretty good and offered that we could also measure for ourselves. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 76Jul 11, 2013 9:15 pm Denber, I think the Verdelho was the springfarm special and Iam sure that half the houses built there have the same colour brick (us included). The import and export of fill was 4K from beechwood, which was included in our tender. We went to Costa's yesterday and spent over an hour there. We didn't ask for much, just some down lights, extra power points and to install ceiling fans. We had our own idea of what we wanted and where to instal which made it a bit easier. Off course they suggested there own ideas, which sometime made sense, but we stuck to what we wanted. They told us about $60 extra per double power point but not sure about the rest as the quote in the mail. Don't be too concern in there as the sale person told us this is really a wish list and not in concrete. Which façade did you guys end up choosing. Cheers Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 77Jul 12, 2013 9:57 am I was thinking the same thing about same Beechwood houses around. Was looking at some of the front of homes and all windows look similar. Which bricks did u choose? I am pretty sure we went with the Seville 1 facade and you guys? Did you change much of the house plan around? Might go for a drive today to see if started on slab, may look out for ur lot too! Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 78Jul 12, 2013 6:27 pm We choose vogue1 with chiffon brick with momument roof. We didn't change much, just minor cosmetic change to kitchen and bedroom cupboard space. What bricks did you choose?. We still haven't heard any news about when they will pier, and they are unable to tell us start date. Did you have similar problem with lack of answers??. Got back costa's quote today, make sure you extra cash in your kitty. Re: ANYONE BUILDING AT EAST VILLAGE, SPRING FARM? 79Jul 13, 2013 11:05 am We went with the 'Engage' bricks. We changed a few things around from original plan, but nothing major. We haven't yet had any issues with lack of answers. They pretty much started work by 28th day they should've according to contract. In saying that we had that period of rain but they started 2 days after rain stopped. In a week they benched site, did the piering, concreted holes and the pipes and black tarp is laid.. Guess we wait for the slab now. We were going to head there today but fiancé was in hospital last night and we only just got home. So I take it Costas quote was a lil pricey? Is this your first house your building?
