We just purchased a place with an easement on the back fence. I was wanting to plant some type of hedge plant to get some privacy from the neighbours but i don't think this is possible over an easement?? Re: Show me your easement landscaping! 5Aug 08, 2012 12:47 pm sco77k I'm looking for ideas also. We just purchased a place with an easement on the back fence. I was wanting to plant some type of hedge plant to get some privacy from the neighbours but i don't think this is possible over an easement?? why not??? You cant build anything on easement. So this is why I put tree etc over them. Otherwise it will be wasted space. The easements are very deep. Re: Show me your easement landscaping! 6Aug 08, 2012 12:50 pm From what I've heard, you have to get permission for certain larger plants/trees etc because their root system can damage the pipes in the easement. I have a manhole on my easement also, so I was thinking of planting a garden bed along the back fence which will have to curve around the manhole. Whatever we do, we have to be prepared that it could be ripped up at a moments notice! :/ I'm going to be drawing up some ideas soon so that I can get an idea of how to utilise the space Goodluck! The paving design that you have is exactly what I meant by having my garden bed curve around the manhole. Looks great!
