They couldnt find our electrical plan that the Boss dropped in so he emailed that later in the afternoon. He dropped in this morning to just go over a couple of things on it but they couldnt see him. It was a bit annoying as it would have only taken 5 minutes and now somehow we will have to try and reschedule. It was all supposed to be finalised for Wednesday but cant see that happening now. I hope the building process goes smoothly for us!! Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 83Dec 18, 2012 1:19 pm Hi auds. I have been silently following your thread as we are building with ventura as well like Donna and others. auds we did prestart yesterday - it wasnt too bad as we are supplying a lot of our own stuff taps etc Can I ask how/when are you putting your own stuff in? We were told by our rep that anything we provide will not be covered by the builders insurance. But then I've read that they won't handover if certain things are not installed. Apparently the cost to insure those things ourselves during the build will be huge too. So hence the question. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 84Dec 18, 2012 1:37 pm Hya We are just owner supplying them and they will install. We got told from the get go that we could supply our own stuff. They wont cover the taps etc for building insurance I guess but I have a warranty for everything I have bought. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 85Dec 18, 2012 1:38 pm Are you worried about theft? I guess it would be hard to steal taps but I know someone on this forum had doors stolen that were already fitted so clearly the thieves don't mind doing some work. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 86Dec 18, 2012 2:21 pm well I am hoping stuff like that wont be put in until lockup. I hadnt even thought about theft. Not sure what would happen then. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 87Dec 18, 2012 3:16 pm auds well I am hoping stuff like that wont be put in until lockup. I hadnt even thought about theft. Not sure what would happen then. We didn't think of it either - it was our rep who mentioned it. I just don't now how easy it is to change all those things later though. They said to get quotes through them first as they are competitive but I imagine after their margin goes on top it is probably not that competitive. Plus if its something you want from someone they don't have an account with then you really aren't going to be saving any money. I'm not sure what to do about it. I think we'll just be putting in standard stuff. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 88Dec 18, 2012 6:11 pm I have saved quite a lot getting my own taps. What I wanted would have cost me heaps more on top of what the standard stuff was. I have gotten exactly what I wanted and a big credit on top of that!! Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 89Dec 18, 2012 6:40 pm Fair enough. I guess it's worth the risk if you don't mind paying that again if they get stolen or damaged. I know there are heaps of people that do supply their own stuff but not sure how many realise it is not covered (in ventura's case anyway) by the builder's insurance or how many actually have problems with theft/damage. I hope in your case it goes well though and looking forward to seeing your selections. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 90Dec 19, 2012 10:29 am Mmmm we were not told our owner supplied things would not have been covered luckly nothing inside the house was stolen You can save heaps buying your own things, with taps etc.... they are alot more exy through Ventura, basically with the basins we would have paid more for nearly the 3 if suplied by them. Also the credit back paid for the new ones anyway & you never get back waht they charge either I was alittle sneeky in that they wonted to chek if the basins were WELLS rated etc....sent them a copy of one found on the web which they ok with. Then bought them at a local hardware shop, saved heaps, noticed the other day bunnings have the same we got for $99 ea The ones we bought were made by Caroma, just didn't have the name on them. V is quoting nearly $10K for it but when we have priced it out ourselves it comes in at about $5k at the most. V wont budge on the price We are still waiting on some other price variations although we have signed the variations at the old prices to get the ball rolling. I hope this doesnt come back to bite me on the bum! Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 92Dec 19, 2012 6:48 pm well things are gradually getting worse. We have had our "final" pricing but still waiting for credits on some things....... The tiles we have chosen were $20 over the allowance /m2 but our extra for the bathrooms etc has come back at $8689!!!!! My allowance for my feature cladding out the front was $75 a metre and what we chose was $66 a metre. Now they are trying to charge us an extra $499!!!! work that one out. We took the promotion of the aircon to be supplied and I think the extra was about $2500. Now we are getting charged an extra $1600 on top of that. My husband has nearly popped his clogs. I think a stroke could be imminent. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 93Dec 19, 2012 10:55 pm K-a - perhaps some of the reps don't realise?? We will see what they quote at prestart and in the meantime I will do my research. We would have to be paying very little or saving a heck of a lot to make the risk worthwhile. Auds - sorry to hear about all the added expense. I know ventura charge not only for going over the tile /m2 allowance but also for laying non-standard size tiles. Can't believe how much they're charging for anticon blanket though. Oh dear! I am not looking forward to prestart at all at the moment. It sounds like its going to be very expensive. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 94Dec 19, 2012 11:36 pm Can I be a little rude, are you guys from the UK? I've never heard of this Anticon and the only person I know who had it installed was from England. Auds - are you having full height wall tiling all over? Ventura only charge for the laying labour and you pay the tile shop the difference above the $44. I am really annoyed with one of my requested upgrades so I will do it later. The Upgrade price was dear than retail - so they obviously didn't credit out the spec stuff. Couldn't get anywhere there. I've never heard of this Anticon and the only person I know who had it installed was from England.:lol: I'm not from uk. Aussie born and raised. It's pretty common here now I think. Not necessarily commonly put in to people's houses (due to cost) but definitely talked about heaps given the energy efficiency contribution. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 96Dec 20, 2012 10:16 am I am also worried they are not crediting the spec stuff. Now they have shut down for Xmas so I guess I wont be getting any sleep for a week or so My husband has just shut down and says he isnt going any further with this Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 97Dec 20, 2012 3:31 pm auds - I feel your pain, my hubby is angry as well, he felt the pre-start meeting and the costs was just rip-off after rip-off. We already walked away from another builder, so can't do it again - I don''t think it matters who the builder is, they all have their mark-ups which can be over the top. But then they can surprise you with some other things. In the end we still will have a fantastic home in a perfect spot that we could never afford to buy established. Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 98Dec 20, 2012 5:59 pm Beautiful oven!! I am thinking of purchasing this one too. Where did you buy it and if you don't mind....what was the price? I know Bosch's previous 900mm oven had a few problems and they discontinued it. ( I was told this by the guy at OZimports) Price was approx $2500. I am looking at either Bosch 900m or 2 x Siemens 60cm Pyro ovens. I was told by BSH that the new Bosch 90cm oven will be released in DEcember?? Pity Siemens does not sell the 90cm ovens. However its never a standard inclusion with most builders Re: Building a custom home with Ventura in Busselton 100Dec 23, 2012 11:50 am zora0071 Beautiful oven!!
