I would say that it is more likely that they had quite a few requests for that change to be like the Francis design with a study and as a result made a new design. I personally think that the PD design of the separated bedroom/living area is going the way of M. I know they have a couple of designs where they show a distiction between the living areas and the sleeping areas by a separate corridor+childrens play area. I always thought it was an interesting feature for the kids - keeps them out of the way when guests are over while encoraging them to take ownership and responsibility of their corner of the house.
