Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2008 7:28 pm As promised, our frame was delivered this week....well, it was actually delivered to the block across the road. I don't know if this is something to be concerned about or not.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a281/timtam2/frame.jpg Most of the other sites seem to have the frame placed within the security fencing on top of the slab or an adjacent lot. The 2 lots on either side of us are vacant, as is the one behind. However, the support beams have been put inside our fenced off lot, but the bulk of the frame is at the rear of the block directly across the road. I can't see why they would put it there on purpose, as it will make things difficult for the framers to do their job efficiently. The lot numbers could have been mistaken - ours ends in a 4, that one is 9, so I suppose that if someone's handwriting wasn't clear it could be mixed up. Our name and lot number are clearly spraypainted all over the frame. The block across the road is the same builder as well and they would be due to receive their frame next week, so I'm worried things could get mixed up. And, I'm also concerned that when they realise they made a boo-boo, the frame is at risk of damage when being carted across the road. Is this something I should be contacting them about, or just let it be and hope they know what they're doing. I don't want the site supervisor to think I'm a psycho right from the start Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: We're on our way..... 3Mar 27, 2008 8:03 pm Well, we called our site supervisor on Monday, and he said he would get it moved. Tonight, I called into the estate on my way home and the guy was actually there loading our frame onto the truck. I tried to keep a discreet distance and watch the proceedings. It was pretty alarming watching our 'house' swinging in the breeze, several metres up!!!!
I couldn't stay the whole time, as he was taking forever, but popped back in just as it was getting dark. So, yes the frame is now within our lot, although to get it in there, he just took down a piece of the fencing and left it there (grrrr) so much for security, particularly as the windows were delivered today. My main concern, however, is the unidentified piece of BROKEN wood that was left on the other lot. It's definitely from our stuff and broken/snapped from impact, but I'm not sure if it is part of the frame or some packing wood - it's pretty rough and the frame appears to be a smoother finish - I just don't know. Anyway, that piece of wood is now sitting on my dining room table - I took it just in case they had any ideas about a quick glue job and I've sent a text message to the site supervisor.............. *sigh* why does it have to be so stressful?!
