Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 03, 2012 1:42 am Hi guys, I literally just signed up to this forum as i am undergoing the initial planning/discussions to build a new home with MJH and I'm looking for some advice on what to expect etc.. At this stage, i have negotiated a block and MJH have drawn up a quote which i am considering however have not quite made a definitive decision as yet. I am considering the new Gen One design: Nova, as i am a first home owner and looking to control my finances as much as possible. I went into all meetings with the sales staff stressing the importance of managing the cost outlay to a minim and gauging a complete understanding of cost upfront to minimise surprises.MJH have been positive and flexible with quotes and i have managed to negotiate a few discounts and deals etc. Basically the full quote has come back at $220k which includes the Nova design with a classic facade, alfresco area, along with the current 'impressions' promo, and a had full of extra inclusions (58sqm of ceramic floor tiles to porch, entry, kitchen, family/meals area, and bedroom hallway at $27.5per square meter/65sqm of carpet to bedrooms and home theatre at $50 a square meter/vertical drapes/oyster lighting/telephone lead in from street and two points/TV antenna and two points/split system air con/flyscreens/clothsline/letterbox/60sqm of coloured concrete driveway and paths/and treated pine retaining walls in yard). The quote also includes a fixed price site cost, and statutory requirements. Can anyone shed light on what extra cost i would be looking at if i was to move forward with this package they have drawn up? Are people familiar with the Gen One designs, and if so whats the feedback? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys, as i am quite anxious about the whole process.
