Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 31, 2012 4:33 pm I really need to make a decision on what to put on my sliding doors (4 of them). Its really doing my head in 2 of them are in parts of the house that dont require too much privacy, the other 2 are in parts that do (dont want the neighbours looking straight in). What do you have on your sliding doors, or what are you getting? I am really stuck, particularly on the 2 that need light to come in but privacy at the same time. Help please! The linings will also help to keep out the cold in winter. Consider panel glides which are ideal for sliding doors. A lot of people go for blinds with sliding doors however in my opinion they’re unsuitable and impractical. Cheers PS Re: What type of covering on sliding doors? 5Jul 31, 2012 10:17 pm Novo Tinting? They weren't really that dear, only a few hundred extra more than the panel glide. Dearheart Re: What type of covering on sliding doors? 7Aug 01, 2012 1:15 pm Panel glide is a good option, but you need to have enough space on either sides (or at least one side) for the panels to slide over. Say 600mm min per my experience. For sure this is depending on the width of your sliding door which determines how many panels you need. Alternatively, like it or not, vertical blinds has been a popular choice for sliding doors as they are very practical. People always use blockout fabric for verticals as you can always adjust how much lights come in by turning the blades. Re: What type of covering on sliding doors? 8Aug 01, 2012 2:45 pm We have roman blinds over ours, and will do again when the house is built. The only downfall is that you need to lift the blind when you want to fully open or close the door because they get bumped or the handle catches in the cord. If you are going to hang them from the ceiling that is not an issue because you can allow for that. If you are going to hang them from the ceiling that is not an issue because you can allow for that. Roman blinds for sliding door may not be a good idea as you have experienced. I would suggest Roller (or Holland Blinds) if you prefer the clear line but you'd better split them into two (again depends on how many panel your sliding door has), which means you only need to put one roller up to the TOP when you need to open or close the door. And you can choose light filtering fabric to allow some lights coming in or even screen fabric if privacy is not a concern. The chain control with roller is lot more easier to manage compare to cords with Romans. But chain control Romans are also available if you like. we have a standard size and often we have a lot of variety to choose 0 3578 We are looking for sliding doors which are 5 metres tall.
