Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 30, 2012 3:05 pm Hi All, My hubby & I are building the Lexington Q2 with Henley Homes and have a question to anyone out there who has built the same- or who knows about building!! We have just reached lockup stage & have noticed that our internal laundry door doesn't match the height of any of the other doors in our house! It is 2190 in height. All the other doors in the house are the same height (including the butler pantry door which is right next to the laundry door), On our elevation plans the doors are both the same height, but when we look at the ground plans there is a small arrow pointing to the laundry door stating 2190 door. The display homes all have matching laundry and butler pantry door heights also. Our site supervisor firstly asked me if we had made a variation to the door- which we did not, but now says that's how the house has been designed! It isn't impossible to have changed, but it will difficult. I think more difficult for us to do after its all finished! My question is- were your laundry and pantry doors the same height or different!? Do you think that we should be entitled to have the door height lowered so it looks the same! We are first timers and aren't sure what we should do or expect from the builder! Any feedback would be appreciated! Courtney Re: Building the Lexington Q2 with Henley 2Aug 01, 2012 10:08 pm hi csrobinson, congratulations on your build! It must be exciting times. Lock up stage is the longest of all stages!!!! We've just moved into our Lexington Q1 and I just ran to our laundry to check out the height of the laundry cupboards against all other doors. Yes, the laundry doors is slightly lower than the rest of the kitchen/normal doors. It's part of the design. The height is like 5 - 10 cm lower but you still get all the storage space. You really dont notice it...well I never did anyway until I read your post and I started to worry. It's nothing to worry about. Most important thing to check at this stage is all your external powerpoints/ drain points are in the right area...and you have a nifty way to get into the house at this 'lock up' stage. Hope that's helped! Thanks for you reply! It's not the laundry cupboard doors I'm concerned with, it's the door from the kitchen into the laundry! We have the butlers pantry door and they are right next to each other- but the laundry door is a lot higher all the other doors in the house are normal height except for the laundry door! Does your door from the kitchen into the laundry match your pantry door? Lol. I can post a picture if it helps?! Thanks for your reply, How did you find your build went? How long did it take all up? Are you happy with everything?! Courtney Re: Building the Lexington Q2 with Henley 4Aug 02, 2012 8:24 am Hi Courtney I'm sure the laundry door from kitchen to laundry are same height as butlers pantry, I'll have a check again tonight. I hope ours looks as good as yours once it is finished! AND your laundry and pantry doors are the same height! So i really hope that Henely will fix ours- I have no idea how or why it ened up being higher than all th eother doors- it looks so silly! But i have a feeling they dont want to fix it. So fingers crossed! If I can attach a pic of it I will Courtney Re: Building the Lexington Q2 with Henley 7Aug 05, 2012 8:57 pm Hi Courtney, yes the doors are the same height! Was busy all weekend playing with the nieces in our spa! Btw did you ask for a different door (other than the standard white door) from kitchen to laundry?? We changed the pantry door to a sliding door- apparently the sliding door doesn't come in the higher height (no-one told us this ever) so that's why the doors are different heights! We are meeting with the site supervisor on Friday morning to chat about it- but I'm not sure they will do anything about it. Our kitchen cabinets have gone in now and they are the same height as the laundry door so it doesn't look as bad now! We will see what happens! Fingers crossed! Re: Building the Lexington Q2 with Henley 10Aug 05, 2012 9:29 pm You may have a case to argue if the dimensions of the pantry aren't noted in the contract...
