Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 26, 2012 5:04 pm Ive just figured out how to start my own thread after lurking and posting my issues on everyone elses ## thanks for putting up with me Turtleschell## So anyway in about september 2011 Hubby and I signed with Terra Novis for an untitled 556sqm corner block in avonlee estate WA not too long after we signed with Goodlife Homes we got our plans drawn up ...contracts signed and prestart done by may and finally got our titles in july ... now we are waiting for settlement ..which will apparently be in early august ... so not long ... after a million delays with titles im crossing my fingers everything goes smooth from here will post the plans soon !! Re: BUILDING IN AVONLEE WITH GOODLIFE HOMES 4Jul 27, 2012 12:51 am This is the plan Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It might be missing a couple of minor changes like double doors to theatre and nib walls to ensuite shower ... At the moment I am trying to find a way to make our island bench bigger ... We will have to pay $350 fee on top of the cost to make the change ... But if its not tooo rediculous I think it may be worth it ... Maybe even just extending to have a breakfast bar and might look into waterfall edges while they're at it ... Just crossing the fingers that it doesn't burst the budget Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: BUILDING IN AVONLEE WITH GOODLIFE HOMES 6Jul 27, 2012 11:17 pm Congrats on new thread! I recommend moving your sink off your island to the other bench. Definitely get the waterfall edges, my stone ones cost about $750 total. Did you already ask for the bench to be extended and the cavity pantry slider? Ask for your manhole to be moved into your garage. They told me its not actually the door its other bench ... There has to be a certain amount of space between them ... So I would have to get rid of some of my other bench ## not happening## I suggested stretching out the right side or making it wider for a breakfast bar ... Said can't make it wider unless I wanna pay BIG money ... And she gave me 2 prices ... $1200 to extend the bench and cupboards 1m to the right ... And $800 to extend just the benchtop (with chrome poles)by 1m ... Both of these options mean seeing 1m of bench as you open the front door ... Which doesn't bother me a whole lot .. especially since hubby wants to put sliding French doors in to close in the living areas ... One of the first things I diD at prestart was move the manhole to the garage ... I'm not having fingerprints on my roof lol still waiting on the quote for waterfalls ... Wonder if they'll charge me 2 variance fees Re: BUILDING IN AVONLEE WITH GOODLIFE HOMES 8Jul 28, 2012 6:02 pm If you haven't made a decision on your first request yet, they probably won't charge you twice. I think it's fine seeing bench from the entry, but make it that the chrome poles are on the non entry side coz you'll probably end up storing stuff underneath. But $800 plus variation fee is quite a lot for just 1m of bench. Do you really need so much space? So much nice furniture ... Saw a couple of things that we definitely want ... First a couple of these egg chairs .they are about $1200 each so will be looking around .. The husband and child are not included in the price Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And these are tea light holders ... I would hand them above the bath in the ensuite ... Re: BUILDING IN AVONLEE WITH GOODLIFE HOMES 19Jul 29, 2012 9:48 pm THose egg chairs are gorgeous, you can get ones that just hang from the roof, like hanging day beds. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have been avoiding furniture shops coz I know I'll go crazy. The sad truth actually is that by the time we move into our place, we will have spent all our last dollars on the downlights and wardrobe fitouts. No furniture. So we will have this old undersized furniture filling up only half the rooms! Ah well, that's what gumtree is for! I love that day bed ... It looks so comfy .... Where Did you see that? Oh its the same for us ... After we get all our lighting done and render and backyard and we still have about $5000 to pay off our theatre system .... We will have to live with our old furniture ... Not all of it is bad but there is definitely not enough to fill the whole house ... And none of it matches .. lol Ask for references and speak to them.
