Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Mitred edge tiling ? 2Nov 09, 2013 1:12 pm We paid an extra 500 dollars to do it and it all depends on the quality of the tilers. If you get good ones it's ok. If you get incompetent tilers like ours who don't know what straight and 90 degrees means then you wish you didn't do it. Re: Mitred edge tiling ? 5Nov 09, 2013 2:49 pm I don't have any close up photos handy but if the tiles are straight then the mitred tiles look worse. There is less margin for error. Re: Mitred edge tiling ? 6Nov 09, 2013 3:29 pm Mitred tiles look 100 times better then standard tiling. Ours isn't perfect but I do think it was worth it. I hate seeing the orange edge of the tiles! Re: Mitred edge tiling ? 7Nov 11, 2013 8:17 pm We are opting for this everywhere. Haven't got the costing back yet eep. The alternative these days seems to be whacking a big ugly shiny silver edging along the tiles to hide the fact they aren't aligned very well. As we will be paying extra for the extra labour involved I didn't even consider that the mitred edges might not be done well EEEP. This pic shows the difference between mitred & unmitred really well - the unmitred side is where our shower screen will sit so it doesn't need to be mitred. It will stick out like a sore thumb overwise. Also tiler will be siliconing the miters rather than grouting.
