Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Lucas homes 4Jan 28, 2014 2:25 pm Hi there, we are currently going through with Lucas Homes. So far they have been helpful. Although we went through Macquarie York Real Estate to get to them - Which was not a good company to deal with, and have screwed us over. Lucas homes is a family run business. They seem to know what they are doing. Will update you on the progress. Re: Lucas homes 6Feb 07, 2014 1:46 am Hi there, we are planning to go ahead with Lucas homes as well...can't find any info on them..the sales person Melissa is really nice..can anyone share there experience with them?? Re: Lucas homes 9Sep 25, 2014 4:41 pm Hi We went through Lucas Homes, n had a difficult time with them. If I can go back in time I would've gone ahead with them. Just to save $20-$30grand is really not worth the heartache. One of their trades have come to us to help them get back money that is owed to them from Lucas Homes! We actually got along better with the people they used 2 build our home. Lucas homes are very unprofessional. We are still fixing bits n pieces of things they haven't botheed 2 fix. They say you have about 3 mths 2 tell them if there's problems which we have, and what they told us is "it wasnt mentioned when we did the Walk through." I don't know if the other builders are the same. Re: Lucas homes 10Sep 26, 2014 4:44 pm I am now quite disappointed with their service. Since we have started the whole process - a very long time ago, they have changed their Blinds, Kitchen, and Tiles suppliers, so we have had to take more time off work to re-select out colour selections. The extras we were paying for tiles and Kitchen, with their previous supplier, are almost double the price with the new supplier. Technically, since we started talking to Lucas Homes, we started in DEC 2013, and we haven't even begun construction to this day!!!!!! None of the hold ups was us, it was a miscommunication between them and Macquarie York. Then we could not do private CDC and had to go through council, which took 2 months. Any suggestions what things I should be getting in writing along the way when they finally start construction? - I will ask then to have in writing how long we have to tell them of things that aren't completed properly. Re: Lucas homes 11Sep 29, 2014 3:00 pm Sorry to hear that jo-anne84. Ours took about 5 mths to start construction but took about 7 months hand over. Was supposed to be 16weeks. Yes good idea to get the date in writing. B4 hand over make sure everything is fixed n done. Trust me, its better to wait a little longer as you will have to call all the trades yourself n they take their time coming back. I regret not waiting 4 them 2 fix up their defects. I really dont think its going 2 be fixed. Some of our doors do not close. Some cracks on the walls n patching needs painting. Still waiting on electrician and plumber its been 7weeks. Ive kind of given up. Re: Lucas homes 13Oct 03, 2014 3:17 pm Kitchen were with Macathur Kitchen (nice and professional people) tiles were with Paragon Tiles. If you have any other questions about Lucas Homes I'll be happy to answer. I really want people to know about them. They need to make their clients happy and I really dont think they care after you sign with them, that needs to change. Re: Lucas homes 14Apr 14, 2015 3:21 pm We are finally at frame Stage with Lucas Homes. We have made payment for the next stage to go ahead and have lost a month in waiting for them to continue, with excuses such as weather, bricklayer unavailable, and today, bricks not available. Any recommendation on whether to lodge a formal complaint, or to wait until the end so they don't do a bad job out of spite. And if we do complain, who should we forward our complaint to? I have been advised, the fact that they are eager to get payments, and not quick on continuing the job, they might have financial issues, should we worry? 1 year 4 months and counting till we have our home!!! Re: Lucas homes 16Jul 14, 2015 3:07 pm We signed the building contract on Jan 2015 and after delays (maybe excuses) they finally put the fencing to be followed by sediment control and excavating this week. Will check on the weekends if these things were done. Re: Lucas homes 17Aug 12, 2015 12:23 pm Hi All, Just thought I'd update you. Despite our original date of finishing being in May and now pushed back to today, our home is still not completed, (just finished the rough in). We have sent a letter to them, and they have not bothered to respond. We are next going to talk to our lawyer. I have taken 4 weeks leave, as I truly though we would be moving in this month, given a 16 week build, should hopefully not take longer than 7 months. We have read nothing but terrible things about them on Facebook page.. It seems alot of people are unhappy with their customer service skills, as well as their lack of organisation. I do have to say, one of the receptionists I speak to there, has actually been really great, and helpful, she seems to be the only one getting things done. Anyone else have any words of advise??? Re: Lucas homes 18Aug 18, 2015 12:21 am Hi there, I've been reading all your posts & I hear my own story being repeated again & again. We have a slab, frames & partly bricked walls & have come to a grinding halt. Anytime anything gets done it takes another month or more to move to the next phase. Recently the companies banner has either removed or blown away from the site fence - not a good sign. Our story began with them in July 14 - I'm really worried. We are also not getting replies to our emails or phone calls. I called Fair Trading today to get advise. As they are not in breach of the contract (as yet!) they could only follow them up for lack of communication with us if we wanted to lodge a claim. Has anyone had a house finished recently? Also it seems that most of us that are having problems have also have been involved with Macquarie York which are now operating as New Home Group. I've had many sleepless night worrying about it. Hi Jo-Anne84 I was just wondering how things were going for you. Have you had any work done recently? Re: Lucas homes 20Aug 21, 2015 7:00 pm Hi All, I have had a meeting with Lucas Homes, to try and get things sorted, and things moving. Since the meeting we are now up to gyprocking and fittings - so it seems things are moving forward. The excuses I am hearing is that there is difficulty with contractors. They don't show up, they need to book new contractors, some contractors do terrible work that then needs to be rectified. I believe this must be normal.... any suggestions? How are you going Hills253? Where about's are you building? How long ago did you sign the contract? Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 47237 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
