Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2012 11:06 am I own a block of land, ready and waiting to be built on, where I'm in the middle of a release where only one other build has begun. Before settlement I had to ensure pegs were checked and replaced, but of course it's taken only a single lot to start construction and some of those pegs have disappeared. On the north-east corner they seem to have driven plant over one, so it might be there buried somewhere, but if it is, I can't find it. And someone's gone and pulled the South-West peg. The longer stakes are scattered all over the block, and I'm lucky I'm not the neighbour, who has a massive pile of solidified concrete that's been dumped there But the North-West and South-East peg are still there. The way I see it is this: We know that the block is 2800mm deep and 1250mm wide. If I were to take two pieces of string of that length (or long measuring tapes), the only possible place they could intersect at full extention would be where the peg(s) should be. In is this sufficient, without having to do a complete re-survey? Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. Settlement: 29/05. Re: Pegs - how many are required? 2Jul 24, 2012 11:41 am As far as I am aware there are 2 pegs used.. 1 - The Visual One which is usually white and sticks out of the ground 2 - The real peg that is under the surface near where the white one is, I would say take a shovel and have a dig You should only need 3 out of the 4 for the builder to be OK Re: Pegs - how many are required? 3Jul 24, 2012 11:49 am Yeah, the long thin white ones are really just for decoration. They're there for your convenience to show you roughly where the 'real' peg - the one that matters, is. I've heard 3 before, but looking for a firm confirmation. My math says a third shouldn't be necessary since I have opposing pegs. With opposing pegs you can't possibly end up with a difference derived point. Re: Pegs - how many are required? 4Jul 24, 2012 12:02 pm Personally I would head out to the site with a shovel, convirm there are underground pegs at one of the white ones still there and then dig out the area where the missing pegs should be. That way your builder is not going to be able to even raise the issue of a re-survey Re: Pegs - how many are required? 5Jul 24, 2012 1:52 pm We had a similar issue. Our builder told us that two were missing (ground pegs, not large ones that pole out of the ground). They told us they would nor go on site til all were replaced and were asking for 1200 dollars to rectify it. We went out on site and dug away, we eventually found 1 under ground and the other was removed. Despite this, builders CAN work with three pegs. If I was you I'd get a shovel and dog away! Save yourself a lot of money and stress! Good luck! Re: Pegs - how many are required? 6Jul 24, 2012 4:16 pm Its worth checking the dimensions on the title plans. Although you may have been told its 28000mm it might be a bit more or less.
