Today is Sustainable House Day and in WA, we visited a house where the owner spec'ed 870 door openings throughout internally vs the standard 820. While this may not seem like a big deal, to us it seem to make a noticeable feel to the size of the rooms, even the smaller rooms. Just thought I'd share. We also check shower screen heights also if shower heads have been moved. regards John CR Partners Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 906Oct 14, 2015 12:16 pm John, You're right, we also had to have our screens increased for the shower heads - but for a total $200 it was worth it for us. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 907Oct 15, 2015 12:26 pm This is a genius idea and may actually solve our problem (our bedrooms are too small). We are going to talk to the builder about making these changes - thanks for the tip! I would have never thought of that!!! So excited to have an idea as the solution to our problem - thanks again! Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 908Oct 15, 2015 12:41 pm I actually personally prefer putting the wardrobes in between the rooms so that rather than just sharing a plasterboard wall they have a buffer in between to help with noise control ![]() Jen (& Dave) Plantation Bronte, Ormeau Ridge, Gold Coast QLD 12/03/2015 - Commencement... 26/08/2015 - Handover! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76446 Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 909Oct 15, 2015 12:44 pm ![]() It's not so much we forgot - we didn't know anything about tile mitring and the interior designer we met with to help make selections (service offered by builder) didn't mention it, tile shop didn't mention it, pre-start girl didn't mention it and now we are almost finished build and seen our tiles aren't mitred and have horrible terracotta coloured edge!! This goes around nib wall in ensuite and is very noticeble! If we had been told this was something we had to specifically ask for we would have! Make sure you specify this!! Haven't asked our builder bout it yet but we are very disappointed it wasn't discussed as optional , they knew we were first time builders. Hi all what are mitre tiles? I have no clue!!! I am new to building and new to Australia, and I don't know what in the blazing heck you all are talking about. We got the switchboard put in the garage so if something trips we don't have to go outside and around to the side of the house in the dark to reset it. My personal experience is that electrical things always seem to trip at the most inconvenient times ie at night when it's raining!!! Also whilst it's useful to add more circuits than what seems to be standard with builders (4) which isn't enough in this day and age. We ended up with 9 and also crossed Length ways and half ways across our house so at any time if something tripped we'd still have power and lights somewhere.
