Really wishing now that we'd opted for the vegie sprayer type tap with the pull out hose for the laundry sink. Would make washing the cats (or small dogs if you have them) sooo much easier! Couldn't you just buy one of those rubber hoses with the spayer head from Safeway? That's what we used back in Roxburgh Park when we dumped the dogs in the bathtub. Only set me back about $3 and I could take it off. I really wish I had of got a laundry sink/tub in the garage. My parents got one and I never thought much of it, but we feed the dogs in the garage and it's handy having that there so I can wash their bowls and the spoon for the wet food. Ah well, I don't think we would of had the space for it anyway Land Deposit - 18/12/2009 Became a land Baron - 21/12/2010 Site Start - 27/1/2011 All moved in!! Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 263Mar 04, 2011 3:22 pm Ask about warranty, terms & Conditions with builders. Ours told us if we outsourced our carpets and tiles after handover...and if there is any minor/major cracks or damages to the slab and tiles/carpet needs to be replaced it's covered only through insurance (as a cost) not warranty through the builder...where as if you get it through the builder they replace it no questions asked and no exra cost Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 264Mar 04, 2011 3:43 pm Twiggy Felistopher I didn't think we'd forgotten anything.... Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 265Mar 04, 2011 6:06 pm I also didn't think we forgot anything... but I would kill for: 1. A sensor light in my Walk In Pantry - so it comes on when the door opens 2. A small light in the feature niche in the ensuite thats low voltage - I hate gettting up in the middle of the night for a drink/toilet and having to turn the really bright light on in the ensuite and the light/fan in the ensuite toilet We moved the power point for the ensuite vanity into the cupboard on my side - but didn't think to put one in DH's side. Mostly I think the rest are just power point placement - I don't think I need extra ones - probably just should have thought about how I'll use them and where they would have been move convenient!!! OH and - our garden taps for our backyard are on the dead side of the house where we will have a concrete path and absolutely no plants or grass to water... no taps on our Alfresco side or rear garden... (thank God dad is a plumber by trade - still have to sweet talk him though!!!) I think there are a couple of other things - I'll post them as I remember them! A sensor light in my Walk In Pantry - so it comes on when the door opens We're going to put a light like this in our pantry and walk in robe http://www.arlec.com.au/viewProduct.asp ... alogueID=5 Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 268Mar 10, 2011 1:41 am Few things i picked up, and only because im very anal about lines, symmetry etc. - check cornices on bulkheads. do you want cornices there? - make sure taps are placed at correct spots on drawings - check downpipe locations, last thing you want is a downpipe in front of your feature wall. - door opening direction - smoke detector locations - location of o/h cupboards in kitchen, is the face flush with wall? ours wasnt and i had to get it ammended - height of kitchen bench thats all for now. Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 269Mar 10, 2011 6:29 am if you are having an attic pull down man hole thing ... in your garage, make sure it is no where near the SIDE brackets that hold the garage door in place. Otherwise your man hole door wont be able to open cos the bracket goes over it! we thought we had it in a good spot...long way from garage DOOR, not near the motor to operate the door, and the middle bracket that holds said motor, not obstructing any cars, or the door into the garage from hall, or even the freezer....but forgot how long those side brackets are!! Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 271Mar 10, 2011 8:16 am ps these are not my pictures, got them off photobucket as easier to explain with piccies!! Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 272Mar 10, 2011 7:00 pm Is it advisable to have a lock on that manhole (in the garage) as it is the easiest point of entry for a lot of houses. Either that or concealed really well. Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 274Mar 11, 2011 5:26 am Sir Snagger Is it advisable to have a lock on that manhole (in the garage) as it is the easiest point of entry for a lot of houses. Either that or concealed really well. or enter via the un locked door from garage to house! Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 276Mar 11, 2011 9:20 am that is a good tip, if you have a lock (we do) USE IT! an outside power point for any future pool/ spa/ hot tub, even if you dont think you will ever buy one. the waterproof power point at build stage is $150 (ish!??) and site it in an area where a pool might go (one day) Then in a moment of madness and you pick up an above ground one for $200 with a filter, you can plug said filter in and swim happily for hours. Re: Things you forget - summary page 11 278Mar 16, 2011 11:04 am we forgot the gas point in the alfresco...and after reading this thread luckily my supervisor was good to give me the elctrician number to make out for the missed things we had to put in our electric plan. At last I have something to add to this great thread... it's a lesson I have learned from a friend's experience. She built her house with an alfresco with the intent of putting decking down as flooring. It was not until she had the decking done that she realised the headspace in the alfresco had shrunken quite a lot (no possible way she could put a ceiling fan in). A tip from her... perhaps ask your builder to increase the height of your alfresco to avoid this problem. Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built.
