Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 21, 2012 3:54 pm Checked out progress of building this morning and noticed water seeping through slab onto garage floor. Garage floor is lower than ground floor of house but surely water should not be getting through- it is pretty wet at side of house and there is no drainage yet so somehow water is flowing under house slab and seeping in to man cave!! not good -- does anyone have any ideas whats gone wrong?? please help Re: water seeping through slab 2Jul 21, 2012 9:58 pm no idea, sorry, but I too am fearful of water seeping into our slab (we have permanent pools of water around our garage slab, with gaping holes appearing in the earth under the slab, that I am sure it is just a matter of time)... so will be interested in any responses... (ps: I did ask the independent inspector about the cave looking gaps under our slab at the back of the garage, but he said they were fine and when we move in to put a concrete perimeter around the slab...). I suspect thats where the problem is coming from. sunshine - I'm hoping a concrete perimeter sloping away from house will fix my problem. That should sort you out too sounds like you have an erosion issue maybe? Re: water seeping through slab 5Jul 22, 2012 8:41 am yes, hoping so. We definitely have an erosion problem, which has been partially plugged with concrete. But we are planning on a concrete perimeter sloping away too. It is just during the build that I have been concerned about... Fingers crossed for you too... Have you thought about getting an independent inspection done?
