Browse Forums Building A New House Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 2Jul 19, 2012 7:30 am We installed CCTV in our last house after we were broken into. It was interesting viewing.... we caught the neighbour peering over our back fence when our alarm went off. (We suspect his son was the one who originally broke into our house!) We also watched the dog rip out our roses, drink from the bird bath, run around like an idiot and see how many hours of the day he slept! It was peace of mind knowing that if our home was broken into again, the CCTV would capture it. I wouldn't call it paranoid. Will we install it this time? Not sure, we'll see how we go, there are other homes in estate with CCTV. Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 3Jul 19, 2012 8:44 am I will be installing it after we move in. If it stops one amateur from breaking into the place its paid for itself I also want to see what our dog gets up to during the day as i think it would be quite funny viewing Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 4Jul 19, 2012 9:06 am Given how much many systems have come down in price recently I can see more and more people will start using them. I was looking for just a regular camera on ebay when up came a 4 camera cctv for $180 or there abouts. There is a touch of paranoia about it but if it gives you some peace of mind I wouldn't care what others think. Of course to the criminally minded it would indicate you have something of value to protect. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 5Jul 19, 2012 9:56 am robbie55 Of course to the criminally minded it would indicate you have something of value to protect. This part worries me a little but they would probably realise that the cost of items like this has come down considerably. Its also so much easier to set up now given most new builds are using home hubs I am also hoping my insurance premium will benefit from having them installed Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 6Jul 19, 2012 10:07 am smorgzzz We also watched the dog rip out our roses, drink from the bird bath, run around like an idiot and see how many hours of the day he slept! Hahaha, that is the whole reason why we will be having a system. We want to see what to dogs get up to! It is also good to keep an eye on how much they bark in between naps and playing with their mountain of toys I dont think it means that one is pariniod, they make great toys! Ours will go in after handover. It will be an easy job as they are all ceiling mounted, ethernet powered, ip cameras. Just not sure if we should pay $240 per point to wire it while we building or would it cost more to do it afterwards? Does $240 sounds ok just to place some wiring (it doesn't include any of the cameras or other equipment)? Re: How many people have CCTV in their homes? 9Jul 19, 2012 6:47 pm I may get it again. Mainly because our neighbour is weird and we don't trust him. He was standing outside our bedroom on a retaining wall challenging hubby to a fight one night lol. All because they were arguing and we asked them to keep it down lol. Anyway, hubby couldn't find his wallet one day and we went back over the cameras and a guy had come onto our property and into our house. Search for "Crestmead thief" on youtube. Nah he hasn't been caught. We were lucky he only took hubby's wallet. There were 2 laptops sitting within metres of the door and my expensive camera was in the next room. It looks like he got disturbed. The police have the footage and we got his picture printed off and put on several lamp posts around the neighbourhood. He would have been reluctant coming back with his picture everywhere lol Scientists have used random matrix theory to demonstrate theoretically that the neutrino mass hierarchy can be explained mathematically.
