Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 18, 2012 6:42 am We're currently talking to Porter Davis in regards to building a new house. We want to select our own flooring as we want a solid timber floor, we spoke to the Sales Consultant in regards to just tacking the skirting boards so then the flooring company can come in lay the floor and then simply nail in the skirting boards. The SC insisted that Porter Davis can't tack on the skirting boards, they must attach them properly prior to handover. Is there any one out there who has built with Porter Davis and faced the same problem? Re: Flooring on a Porter Davis Build 2Jul 18, 2012 9:40 am We have had the same issue, although with Simonds rather than Porter Davis. I understand the reason, although it's a annoyingly bureaucratic. Our flooring guys will remove and replace the skirting for us (at a small cost). I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the skirting where the floorboards meet carpet. Re: Flooring on a Porter Davis Build 3Jul 18, 2012 11:20 am I think the other option is for them to leave them off (but supplied) and you have to paint them yourself after floors are installed. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12320 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17511 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6173 |
