Hi All,
We're currently at the Fixing Stage of our build - which is south facing. Our builder has placed the solar panel on the west side of our home, and on the final architectural drawings - the solar panel is also drawn on the west side of the home with the comments "indicative positioning only".
We had raised this during tender but got the "don't worry, we'll fix it when we get to build" sweeping statement that you're all so familiar with, and are now having a hard time getting the builder to position the solar panel at the back of the house - so that it is faces the North.
We got a whole lot of justification - e.g. solar is placed where it is and recommended by certified energy rater, refer to report, etc. When we referred to the energy rating report - it is basically an overall assessment that the house meets a six star energy efficiency - and nothing about recommending the solar panel to be placed on the West side of the house.
We're rather frustrated about not getting this locked in black/white during tender on solar panel position, and wonder if there's any smarter way we can go about this.
Do we have any rights, environmental, council or regulatory levers we can pull to get the builders to action this?
Any advice or ideas appreciated...
