Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2008 12:37 pm Hi guys
Well after much number crunching and discussion, DH and I have decided that what we want from M is just too pricey!! I think the $22,000 for the a/c topped it off Anyway we have been looking at other sites and have come across PD. We like the Cremorne 41, however, we don't think we could find a block to suit the width (although we will keep looking) and in the meantime we are looking at the 34 square option. The problem we have is that the minor bedrooms are only 3 x 3 approx and we'd like them a little bigger, upstairs there is also a leisure area and huge Master Bedroom - I'm just wondering if PD would make changes such as minimising one or both of these areas to make room for larger minor bedrooms? Also their 'formal lounge' area is quite open and we would prefer it to be closed off somewhat. Not necessarily with doors, but some length to the walls at the side...has anyone done something similar? Alernatively we are hoping to find a larger block so we can build the bigger Cremorne.....amazingly the difference in building costs between M and PD is thousands, we were quite shocked Anyway hoping those who have had dealings with PD might be of some help Cheers Re: PD - Changes to plan 3Mar 14, 2008 1:22 pm No they won't build where we want to live, but we are thinking of moving a bit further out if we can find a block that suits...
Have you tried 'M' - they were one of the few that would build around here without a cost Re: PD - Changes to plan 5Mar 14, 2008 9:21 pm Hi Belinda,
We had dealings with PD before (but we ended up with M, hehe) and I would say that they are pretty flexible in terms of moving walls and adding walls to close off an area. They are quite strict though with changing anything (even facade!) even if you haven't signed the contract. They would normally charge $300 for that. Re: inclusion, if you add in all the promotional items that M is currently offering, you may end up with the same $ as M. If you would settle with their standard inclusion plus promo, then you would be alright. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: PD - Changes to plan 6Mar 14, 2008 9:26 pm We built the Wentworth 44 & blocked off the formal lounge & study areas downstairs. No problems. Not sure about changing the size of rooms...but, certainly, adding walls to existing rooms didn't seem to be an issue. Re: PD - Changes to plan 7Mar 14, 2008 9:34 pm That's what I noticed with PD houses that are < 40squares. They normally have very small bedrooms.
But their 40+square houses have good-sized bedrooms. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! If you would settle with their standard inclusion plus promo, then you would be alright. We did checked out the Riva 33 with M and comparing it with Cremorne in Oct/Nov last year and taking into consideration the promotion offered then by both M and PD, the total price is almost the same but we get a 41 squares compared to 33 squares. Hence, we gone with PD. Cheers Re: PD - Changes to plan 9Mar 14, 2008 9:36 pm Thanks guys
VJ - Thank-you Yep thats why I want a copy of PD's standard inclusions to compare to M. I agree M's current promo is very good and saves heaps of money!! PD offer some similar things but not as much, however, their base price of home is much cheaper than what we want from M, in addition to cheaper extras we want such as refridgerated a/c. Maybe we can get them in a bidding war Epiphany - Can I ask how much they charged to close off the stufy/formal lounge? Cheers guys Re: PD - Changes to plan 10Mar 14, 2008 9:44 pm I also can't find the standard inclusion on their website.
It's included in their brochures... Have you visited their display home at Point Cook just near M's? The sales consultant there was our previous S/C. Very nice lady. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: PD - Changes to plan 12Mar 17, 2008 11:35 am Hey haywgl,
How did your visit go to the PD display centre? Did you decide either way? For what its worth, we are buiding the Cremorne 41 and so far PD has been pretty reasonable with alterations to the design. As you may well know there is an indented corner of the house design which protrudes into the study and master bedrooms - some may call this a 'feature' - I call it a waste of space. We had it pushed back out again to get the most out of the rooms. We also: - extended the garage 3 mtrs for storage - added an additional 'nib' wall in the kitchen to finish off the cabinetry and benches, and - added double doors to the study and rumpus rooms. They were very obliging for all of these. We didn't get out to the displays - it was 2 hot for my 2 little ones so we decided to give it a miss, we are going tomorrow - I'm very excited, I think we will be checking out the Cremorne 41 at Derrimut as its the closest Dan - I'm also struggling to see the problem Teml - Your upgrades sound similar to what we would like Were you charged an arm and a leg to close off the study/rumpus? Which facade have you decided on? I really liked the way M did the bricks to the ground floor and the weatherboard look cladding to the second story of their homes but I can't see a facade like this on PD website I think we are going to stick with the 41 - just have to find the right block now, so won't need to upgrade the stuctures much, however, I would like to close off some rooms and get rid of the 'feature' in some rooms that Teml talked about... I'll let you all know how I go tomorrow Cheers Bel Re: PD - Changes to plan 17Mar 17, 2008 2:31 pm The clock is backwards! Some might say it's a left-hander's clock After 4 years - we're in! I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months. I got a call from the salesperson this morning… 0 603 i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17287 5 10494 |
