Still so much to do that we haven't really been doing yet. Others put us to shame with our quickly they get their landscape and gardens sorted (LeanneR!) - ours is still weeds and dirt but we'll get there. LeanneR Would love to see some photos!! Main new things were the robes and some furniture. Master bedroom robes built-in - his and her sides: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And this is what happens when you have multiple trades quoting at the same time and leave your wife to detail a section of the robes. I think the basic summary was: "I'd like some shelves for shoes down the bottom, and then in middle here, more shoes and a bit of shelving for shoes. And up the top if we could shelf it, for shoes, with space for shoes on the shelves. And also some room for shoes." - feel free to guess which side belongs to who: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Downstairs bedroom robes - the wood grain in the master bed was double the cost so just white here: Guest bed - two sections: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Spare bed: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Plus some awesome furniture to match our TV units: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hopefully get some gardening done in the next few weeks and get a photo of that Demo + Build in Rivervale, Western Australia Moved in June 2014 http://rivervale.tumblr.com/ Building Thread Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 423Sep 20, 2014 8:21 am Nice work. In with your wife though I love my shoe shelves. Least she had a side made for you, my DH got one shelf haha although he has shoe racks in garage. I went with white as I don't have that lovely natural light in mine. Your wardrobe is huge! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 424Sep 20, 2014 10:50 pm Looking good . We too are taking our time .why rush ? Then we will have nothing to do lol . I call my house a small reno . I love your robes .half of the family still living in boxes .I find there is not enough hours in a day .goodluck with the gardens Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 425Sep 20, 2014 11:11 pm That robe. Wow! I'm also with Mrs Zaxon here - you can NEVER have enough space for your shoes. Mine are currently stored in three separate locations; in my room, in the laundry and under the stairs. I don't even think they would fit in that space in your photo. My mum calls me Imelda Marcobs or something, but I don't even know who that is! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 426Sep 20, 2014 11:19 pm It could have been worse Zaxon ... Mrs Zaxon might have had a handbag collection to rival mine and then you would have had even less space for your shoes. Looking good and I'll be like you once we move in, slow and steady getting everything sorted. Why rush, you have all the time in the world! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 427Sep 21, 2014 1:34 am It's all looking fantastic Zaxon. I hear you about the shoes, if I left mrs. furrier (or Imelda Marcos, as I call her) to it, our walk-in would look the same as yours! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 428Oct 20, 2014 11:57 am How are you guys finding the sound transfer from upstairs to downstairs? We haven't got our proper floors in yet, but walking on the upstairs is very noticeable downstairs. This will obviously reduce once we get carpet upstairs, but what are your thoughts on this? Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 429Nov 27, 2014 10:29 pm deeps How are you guys finding the sound transfer from upstairs to downstairs? We haven't got our proper floors in yet, but walking on the upstairs is very noticeable downstairs. This will obviously reduce once we get carpet upstairs, but what are your thoughts on this? Hey, sorry for the delay responding. We have pretty decent carpet upstairs plus our space is over the lesser used parts of the house. Having said that, the most noticeable noise is actually the sound echoing up the staircase from downstairs. If I'm in my study space and have the retreat and living room TV on then I get an annoying echo (easily fixed by closing living room doors or adjusting volumes). My wife and I are both heavy walkers too so you get a bit of "thud thud" if we rush back inside to grab something we forgot but asides from that it isn't noticeable. What you need to think about is what situations are likely to have people actively doing things upstairs with people downstairs to notice. The reality is that it is rare for us - and is always likely to be rare. There certainly isn't enough noise transfer to hear conversations between floors. Hope that helps PM me if you like. Lucky me just got to see your entire build over about an hour and a half of reading, much more exciting seeing it come together that quick lol!! We are considering building with 101 and were wondering if you had any advice or suggestions on things you may have missed, wish you did or didn't do. Ill pm you as i have a couple of other questions. Hopefully you still come on here occasionally but i think your house is lovely! great design and colour choices throughout, and although with all builds at times it can be very stressful I'm sure you can say now your in and enjoying it it was worth it!! congrats again! p.s. hows the landscaping coming along? When times get tough build a house...Our second build Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 431Jan 21, 2015 4:51 pm Not sure how I missed the wardrobe pictures - but that looks great! Who did you go with to get them done, and can you tell us roughly what you paid? Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 432Jan 28, 2015 10:46 pm Sorry for the slow response Deeps, I had assumed Zaxon would have replied We used Innerspace wardrobes: http://www.innerspace.com.au/ As for price... he should be able to provide you with better details than what I remember Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 433Jan 29, 2015 1:06 pm deeps Not sure how I missed the wardrobe pictures - but that looks great! InnerSpace as noted by my wife - pricing was ~$1,000 per wardrobe for the downstairs rooms (guest + 2 bedrooms) plus $4,000 for the master bedroom with the woodgrain veneer (would have been $2,500 for the white melamine finish). Not cheap but part of a semi-splurge when we realised we had spare budget at the end of the build We've just had tinting added to the back windows and will shortly be getting some outdoor blinds for the alfresco and activity room. Will post some more photos once that's done. Garden is still a sand-pit unfortunately! I've sent off an email asking for a quote! Looks like they've done a good job! Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 435Aug 16, 2015 9:09 pm Hi Zaxon, I have just read through your post, your home looks lovely, and it sounds as though you had a mostly positive experience Can I ask if you have had any problems with your pod leaking throughout winter? Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 436Aug 24, 2015 9:25 am 101build Hi Zaxon, I have just read through your post, your home looks lovely, and it sounds as though you had a mostly positive experience Thanks - we love our house although I'm taking my time getting the landscaping done which will "finish" things off for us (as much as your home is ever finished at least). Mostly positive is the right way to look at it - I don't think we had any more/less issues than most builds but we had a good site supervisor for most of the build and a good relationship with the builder to figure out solutions for problems that came up. And of those two key points, you can really only control one of them - so my tip for having a positive experience is building a good relationship. 101build Can I ask if you have had any problems with your pod leaking throughout winter? No issues with the pod and no noticeable leaks anywhere - although I haven't been up in the roof cavity myself yet but a sparky mate said it looked fine the other week when he was running cabling. So if there are leaks, they aren't big enough to show themselves yet. Did you have a specific concern? I read one or two comments talking about leaks when we built then during our build there was one area where the roofing joined up to the pod that looked like it would be a drainage/guttering problem but our SS was all over it and adjusted how it was done (it sounded like he'd learnt from a previous 101 build). In terms of similar issues, we have a couple of problems with our downpipes overflowing/flooding that I'm trying to sort out while I get the landscaping done, and I'm fairly confident our hot water system is the cause of the massive spike in our last electricity bill but I still need to confirm. Beyond that, our warranty inspection consisted of fixing one light switch, cleaning a blocked shower drain in the spare bathroom and properly fixing one of the toilet cisterns to the wall.
