But based upon your two comments here and on productreview previously (before they were removed for the personal attacks), I'm going to call troll - and I've been asked to stop feeding them. It looks really close. Keeping me in line too No date for PCI yet - but I haven't asked for one or pushed it. I'd guess late Feb but first time building so no idea how long the last little bits take. Shutters aren't likely to be ready until mid-March plus painting, flooring and driveway/pathways being organised by me so lots of little bits to be done after handover. And I think that wait will be harder - when you have the keys, it is your house, but not quite ready to move into. I'm guessing we'll end up camping a night or two at least. Just move my port barrel in and I'll be fine Demo + Build in Rivervale, Western Australia Moved in June 2014 http://rivervale.tumblr.com/ Building Thread Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 265Jan 25, 2014 3:50 am haha.. I like the idea of camping at your own house. I guess I might end up with that too. Lots to do and work with after have the keys. I am still building up the list of things. Hope I don't miss any at the end. Your build really progressing slowly but promising. I really like your kitchen and ensuite.. hehe.. might borrow some idea from you. I would have thought a decent router in a good location and extenders if required would be adequate. Our current house isn't wired and we stream HD sport to our TV via Apple TV or iPads on ADSL 2 without too many dramas. What are the rest of plates in theatre room for? House looks good. Two ovens looks smart. My Thread (Halls Head Beach House): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67006 Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 271Jan 28, 2014 10:26 am (in suburbia espec )wireless is never 100% secure. having a mix of both is great. If I didn't have a choice of course wireless with regular checks on the network for unwanted guests. But if you have the chance wired gives you the opportunity for faster speeds without having to have extenders, go round steel door frames, worry about electrical interference, multiple double brick walls. Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 272Jan 28, 2014 11:02 am mrsmith I am a little curious about smart wiring when most things work on wireless these days. I would have thought a decent router in a good location and extenders if required would be adequate. Our current house isn't wired and we stream HD sport to our TV via Apple TV or iPads on ADSL 2 without too many dramas. It depends on your needs - if wireless does the job then that is great but a wired connection is always going to be better than a wireless one - and planning for the future is the intent. At some point we might get an NBN, or if not, speeds will increase regardless over time as technology improves, and wireless won't always be the best way to deliver this. Security can be an issue but for me wired is just more reliable, maintaining adequate signal strength and the number of devices that we use these days (we have 2 tablets, 2 smart phones, 3 pc's and a laptop that could all be running something at the same time) means wiring them up where possible is going to be more effective. It will always be a mix of the two, the convenience of wireless is necessary for portable devices - and with our house I'm going to need a couple of wireless access points or extenders to get decent coverage across - but for anything that will be stationary (PC's, TV, etc) wired will be better. mrsmith What are the rest of plates in theatre room for? Conduits for a wall mounted tv so cables aren't just hanging around. Couple of companies I spoke to tried to over complicate things and blind with science enabling them to charge more so I was a bit turned off it all. Thinking of just installing conduits unless I can find someone who doesn't try to overcharge. So recommendations most welcome 101 Residential in Burns Beach viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67711 Shire Approval 31.12.13 Slab Down 15.02.14 Moved in 14.10.14 Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 275Jan 28, 2014 3:00 pm I'm only one step up from that R34 Smart wiring can mean a few different things - for me, I've just run CAT-6 cabling into every room. The other end of the spectrum is the full smart home approach - where you can automate almost anything and control it from a central point. And while being able to operate the activity room lights from our master bedroom might sound convenient, I just don't see it being important enough to spend the money implementing (particularly when you can get low cost alternatives like wifi enabled light globes already). Plus other technology is coming along now that should make things easier - ZigBee could be integrated into existing houses and provide a more flexible way of interacting than needing to connect everything in advance. We used Intelligent Home and they do base packages with a couple of outlets and "NBN readiness" for whatever flavour that might look like in future. It is so exciting to finally be at the pointy end We were told by our SS yesterday that we are approximately 4 weeks away from PCI. Like you, we hope to have our painting, tilers, carpet, blinds & alarm installed before the Easter break as that would make a perfect moving week!! I would think your PCI will be before ours so please let me know how it goes! I'm currently doing some research on PCI checklists & I have recruited my father, who is a builder himself to do the final inspection with us. Re: 101 Residential in Rivervale 277Feb 07, 2014 12:46 pm Haven't been on quite so much recently - nor visiting the house even though we move gradually closer to completion. Main obvious things done were garage doors installed, Intelligent Home finishing their fit-out (and getting the correct silver covers for our outlets) and finishing the render off for the front. Now looking pretty much like the finished product: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Still need the balustrading, tiling and roof painted.
