Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Beechwood in the Hunter Valley 121Oct 16, 2012 6:34 pm Thanks dreamcometrue! That's exactly why we bought this block It feels peaceful while we are out there! Waterproofing was done today, and plasterer finished over the weekend. Cornice was supposed to be started today, but he didn't turn up. My husband got the shed slab down, so moving forward! All our doors were delivered today; we are supposed to be 'locked up' on Thursday (when the kitchen arrives). Must admit, I am soooooo excited to see my kitchen! Benchtops and splashback will be later, but it will still be exciting! Loved my glass doors that will go between all the living areas! Re: Building with Beechwood in the Hunter Valley 124Oct 24, 2012 7:46 pm xxennon HI BA, All of our doors and skirting/architraves arrived yesterday and is being fitted this week. Very exciting! That will get us to lockup also! The race is on haha. When is your planned finish date? Getting there xxennon! Our skirtings and architraves are all to be finished by early next week, for painters to start end of next week. Kitchen has arrived!! But is still not fully installed because the plumber made yet another mistake, and it has to be fixed. Also benchtops and glass splash back not done. I guess they have to measure all that up. Supposed to get keys in about 5 weeks, but then we have our own tiler start early december for bathrooms, then plumber and shower screen installer... then floorings Can't see us actually moving in till after Christmas. How about you guys? Anyway, heres my updates!! I'm guessing they were an upgrade so if you don't mind me asking, were they significantly more??? Hi Little J! They were about $3000 (for the bottom createc ones) and the gloss white (which are hard to see because they have plastic all over them!) were about $1000 (there are only a few). Plus handle upgrades of $1400. Looks very much like Ironbark Ridge Estate. I built with Beechwood at Woodlands Ridge Estate. Have been in since April. I've noticed alot of Beechwood Homes going up in Jillaroo. It is a lovely area. Happy building!! you are right Moon River! We have had our ups and downs... but it's always like that isn't it!! Were you happy, overall? Painters are meant to be starting in a week, so we will see! I'm so keen to be in, but soooooooo much still to do! Beechwoods policy is when gyprock is up no smoking allowed. I don't know if you smoke but my gawd......those painters are chimneys. After asking them to NOT smoke whist painting, they continued to do so. We had to tell them to paint inside our pantry and walk-in wardrobe. They were going to leave them with only undercoat on. Crazy. I noticed your last build was with Coral Homes. So was mine. I loved them. I had the same complaints as you regarding the fixed contract. This build with Beechwood was blown to kingdom come because of the no fixed contract. I wanted Coral Homes to build 'this' house but at the time were not building this far up the valley. Now they do. Just my luck. O well. Can't have everything! Just my luck. O well. Can't have everything! Thanks for the heads up!! I do not smoke and will be mighty peeved off if anyone is smoking in there!! So far noone has but we will see!! We had a plumber that has made a few mistakes (pipes wrong in three places, showers put in completely the wrong place in both bathrooms). But so far all the rest of the tradies have done a good job. We had our shed and house broken into Monday night; site supervisor thinks it was probably tradies working in the area because they didn't damage anything, and he thinks they were probably looking for bathroom fixtures, or appliances to sell on. Unluckily for them, these things won't arrive until the security system goes in! We won't have our things delivered until the day they are being installed, now we know what could happen. Rather unpleasant experience but you live and learn I suppose I loved Coral too . Can't believe it's only six months too late for me to build with them again!! Having said that, I guess there are no guarantees the tradies would have been as good or prompt here as they were in Coffs where our other house is. So sad to hear of your break in. That's really low. I know Casey- beware, I know a few more houses who've had problems too. Frustrating. Can't wait to have everyone out and us (and the security system!!) in!! How's your progress? We finally got our step cornice installed today, ready for the painters later this week. I love the cornice- worth the wait lol. Still a bit of carpentry to do, too, as we were short a couple of internal doors. Kitchen benchtops have been ordered and will be here in a week or so; same for the garage doors. We are getting there, slowly! Still looking to tile early next month, and get the bathrooms fitted out. Very glad we don't have to worry about the baths, vanities, shower screens or all our expensive taps and shower heads being pinched, as we won't deliver them to site until the day they are being installed. I think we'll be registered by the end of the month but I'm not as excited as I could be. We've got too much going on financially and might not be able to settle Feeling super sad actually. But... still in talks with Integrity about their plan. I'm doing some tweaks before sending it back for a preliminary quote. But... still in talks with Integrity about their plan. I'm doing some tweaks before sending it back for a preliminary quote. Sounds the same as we had- had to sell before we committed to building again. Truth be told, we would never have built in Coffs two years ago if we had have known we were going to stay here for so long, and especially build again- we were planning to be in Coffs in another 4 years, but it will probably be ten years now. But it left us a bit over-committed. I would have added another twenty metres to this house, if we didn't have the other one.... but I figured, what is meant to be is meant to be. What we have here is big enough (though not quite as big as I'd have ideally had), what we have in Coffs will be lovely later down the track, and we can't have everything all the time!! I hope your situation sorts itself out quickly and easily, and you are free to move forward soon! These things all seem to work out in the end, but are consuming and tiring while we work through them. Fingers crossed for you Build Again I have a thread, feel free to read! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57912 Re: Building with Beechwood in the Hunter Valley 139Nov 06, 2012 3:33 pm build again, why are there three colours on the wall in your kitchen? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building with Beechwood in the Hunter Valley 140Nov 06, 2012 3:41 pm dreamcometrue build again, why are there three colours on the wall in your kitchen? I'm assuming it has something to do with waterproofing, because the bathrooms have some grey and pink walls too. Hopefully the painters have started today, and it will be painted over soon lol- we have a white starfire glass splash back going in, after the bench tops arrive (hopefully next week)... waiting, waiting Build Again I have a thread, feel free to read! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57912 thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 6036 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110554 |
