Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Roof Leak No Tile! 801May 22, 2013 4:40 pm Guneet.... feel free to read my thread and decide I built with them 2010/11 and they were awesome. So we went back for more.... and I wouldn't say they are customer oriented and theres not a lot of attention to detail (so you really have to read every single word and check 100x). I can only hope the construction side of things are much much better. Apparently they are really swamped right now so it will be minimum 6-7 months from when they do soil test. But seems a lot builders are very swamped and a lot unhappy people waiting and waiting So I don't know if its the company or just builders as a whole during this very busy time Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Roof Leak No Tile! 802May 22, 2013 4:45 pm I am sorry but I disagree. Just received our keys to our Commodore Homes and we are pretty pleased with our build..our home looks fabulous and touch wood so far so good...like anyone have up's and down's and everyone has a different story to tell. As the Site Supervisor mentioned....it's not the builder, it's the SS that makes the difference on your home build and the tradies he selects...Aveling Homes adjacent us has been on a stand still with brickwork coming into it's 8th week and the house behind us was at a stand still since lock up and they were going through brickwork the same time as us. I have been told that there is a general delay at present with all builders due to the high influx of homes being sold in the last few months and the normal waiting period in Admin is approx 7 months. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Roof Leak No Tile! 803May 22, 2013 10:43 pm I wouldn't build with them again my house was a cheaper price which seemed to provide value for money at the time, they have risen the prices since, and their customers service is on a steep decline, and the site supervisor for NOR has that eerie feeling about him. they still haven't bothered contacting me about my roof. They don't care about their customers. In saying that from what I have heard, I would build with them before building with some other companies eg. Goodlife. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Roof Leak No Tile! 804May 26, 2013 10:28 am Actually AC I am now 100% happy with goodlife... well maybe not with the gemmill office ladies but quality and SS was good ... so I would actually build with them again... I would just not expect the best customer service from the office ... we havnt had any issues with house and it was built quite fast ... so really happy with them ... plus if you rule goodlife out its actually gemmill that were behind it ... you only deal with "goodlife" in the plannibg stage its all gemmill from when the contracts get signed Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Roof Leak No Tile! 805May 26, 2013 12:47 pm I agree with Mel, goodlife are the best value. High quality build, fairly priced. It's just the office system that's a joke but I see that all builders use the same system. Too many middlemen in the office. Also a stupid rule not being able to speak to SS yourself but that's also a standard project builder rule. I build an investment home with Goodlife/Gemmill for sure. If I'm building another dream home I hope to afford a custom build. I was speaking to a guy that built with Gemmill and he said yeah they were a nightmare he had a $1000 deposit which he has a receipt for and they still insisted he needed to pay another $1000. I don't want to ever build with companies like that again as mine was the similar. Anyhow on to a more relieving part I have almost completed the front retaining wall just have to add bullnose to it. Would of liked to have gotten a picture during the day, but like every time I work on it, I don't finish it until it gets dark. You can also see my tint by Aussie Window Tinting, but the darkness doesn't give it justice, All in all a good job and good prices, with life time guarantee. Would highly recommend. The pros wanted $2000 to do it and it's about $1000 worth of limestone, I couldn't justify paying $3000 for it. So I did it myself. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 809May 26, 2013 9:06 pm Looks good Our block is much more sloped (house alot higher than footpath) so think we will pay someone. If land was only sight slope or flat DH would prob build it for us Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 810May 26, 2013 9:24 pm AC27 Yeah Mandy67, watched a 6 minute video off youtube. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 811May 28, 2013 1:55 pm AC just read your moving house story, can totally relate to the nightmarishness too! I moved with two kids, one 3 and one 10 months old. They were fine though, I was the one that struggled and wanted to cry. My husband was amazing and did everything himself while I moped around feeling miserable. Our dog also roamed around all night, the click clack of his claws on the floorboards all night made me crazy. Retaining wall looks excellent, must have been tiring, those blocks are so heavy. I'll definitely look into Aussie tinting when Summer comes, otherwise our bedroom will be an oven. Also managed to get an NBN install date for the 14th of June! Also Dug this up while I was making the retaining wall Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 813May 28, 2013 8:55 pm Is that a toad!? It's so fun bumping into wildlife. NBN! Is white man park already getting NBN? İ think butler isn't even on the agenda yet, but we are in a Telstra estate so I've just had the fibre plan set up. 30mps for $80. When NBN comes here ill certainly change to a cheaper ISP. We are close to signing with them to build at Highland Reserve in Jane Brook. Titles due in Sept/October. Some stuff Ive read has made me nervous but have yet to read about a builder without complaints. This hread has helped me so much. I plan I paying for a solicitor to check the contract just to ensure I am getting exactly what I think I am and my own building inspector throughout the build. Not sure what else I can do except to keep in constant contact with them to get what i need. Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 816Jun 02, 2013 10:00 am We have a C homes thread ill find link for you I'm also building with C homes (for the second time) Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 817Jun 02, 2013 11:03 am Hey AC, looks like a cane toad to me, might be a good idea to report it to the DEC? Enjoying it? Re: Re: Commodore Homes, Whiteman Edge: Retaining Wall 820Jul 14, 2013 9:28 pm Things are just so hectic especially with renovating the old house to get it on the market ASAP. I had my landscaping done on Friday. Thet put every plant in the wrong spot (had to replant them). and also put a sprinkler where the liquid limestone is due to go. So they were pretty useless. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that.
