Then I will have lots and lots of internal photos to share! We have already picked up on and pointed out a few problems that we want fixed before we even have the inspection though - wrong paint type was used (we realise it is too late to redo now, but we are not happy paying the $1900 variation that we included in the contract), laundry doorstep unfinished and brickwork where laundry window meets door needs attention. Also, we specified that tiling in the bathroom was to be the full tile height around the edge of the wall (so that we can tile higher ourselves at a later date) and we happen to know that the tiler has cut the 40cm tiles in half so they are only 20cm high Don't ask how we know, we are omniscient Since we are homeless from the 21st June, this is very welcome news! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly the next few weeks. Re: Our SH build - progress pics 183May 23, 2013 8:27 am Fingers toes and everything else crossed for you. That's great news. Re: Our SH build - progress pics 184May 23, 2013 9:57 am Yay!!! That's 3 days after us!! Crossing fingers for you! Re: Our SH build - Handover 6th June! 186May 24, 2013 7:29 pm Correction - after speaking to our builder today, the 6th is not for PCI, it is for HANDOVER! We have been instructed to organise our bank's inspection for a few days before so the cheque is ready to handover on the 6th! They must be pretty confident that we will be happy and that nothing will be missed, or that any problems can be fixed up after we have keys Today we got shelves in our pantry and robes AND our semi-frameless shower screens and mirrors! The delivery van for one of them had some fun doing circle work in the wet muddy ground that is our backyard. The brickie is coming back tomorrow (weather permitting) to fix a few things, the Sparky is booked for Monday and the Plumber for Tuesday, then the painter is coming back Wednesday... which leaves the garage door, solar panels, house clean and site clean - did I miss anything?!? The site clean will be massive - it looks like they will be bobcatting our whole 50mx15m front yard just to remove the mess made by the painters who tipped over a half full paint bucket out the front, dumped their rubbish wherever they could throw from a window or door, and have spraypainted that "Rob loves {male genitalia}" in huge letters on the lawn Re: Our SH build - Handover 6th June! 187May 24, 2013 7:33 pm I am shocked at the speed of your builders. They have really pulled their fingers out and got it moving as it should have been done all along. We seem to have started around the same time, we have already been in our house for 2 months (though it is much smaller than yours and not brick, so time saved there). Can't wait to see some internal pics. The paint is looking more brown than we anticipated, it is worse in the photos, but it is still a grey shade. Now for the oven & rangehood and hot water system to go in, the driveway to be done and the flooring to go in! A very exciting week ahead! Re: Our SH build - We have keys! 190Jun 06, 2013 8:18 pm It was completely not what we expected - it was a PCI, but the painter was on site, so we walked around putting the blue dots on and he followed us fixing them up! Anything that we would have picked up (and some things we didn't), the SS already has booked in to fix. There really wasn't much - one of the glass panels in the stackers is scratched, but it is being replaced next week. The plumber(?) installed the gas point for the stove behind one of the kitchen drawers so the drawer can't close the final cm - being remade now. It is great to not have to wait up to 2 weeks for a few things to be fixed up before we get started! Re: Our SH build - Moving in, woo hoo! 191Jun 10, 2013 6:27 pm After a long weekend down, we still have so so much to do before the floors go down - it is unbelievable how long it takes to do anything. The weekend went with: - mailbox installed (on a temp pole until the driveway goes in) - installing curtain rods and curtains (don't know if this was foolish before the floors are laid, but I wanted the privacy) - pendant lights to kitchen and living areas done - kitchen cabinets installed - washing machine in (yay! such a difference going from a 4.5kg to a 8.5kg ) - extra lights installed in hallways and flouros in garage - 11 IKEA chairs made up (still another stool and 2 dining chairs to go) starting to look home like now!
