I was prepared to forgive our builders anything last week, when it appeared things were finally getting on track - the brickie finished and the next morning the fascias and gutters went on (1/2 done by 8am!) and our update said roofers would be in the same week. I even had dreams of gyprock in the next few weeks. But then... nothing. After 3 days of nothing our emails were responded to with: there is a problem with the frames, but it will be fixed before roofers start. Well, great, except THE ROOFERS WERE MEANT TO START DAYS AGO!
So now we are back to waiting.
I have to say I no longer would. I feel that the build standard we are getting is being achieved by builds all around us, without the hassles we are facing. Over a year since our 1st tender, 5 months since site start and we don't even have a roof (we do have interest to be paid on 70% of our mortgage though). The work we have seen so far has ranged from bad (2 seemingly inexperienced framers taking 2 weeks to put up a frame and now we discover there are problems that prevent the roof from going on) to good (the brickwork from the 1 brickie is pretty good, but it still took a month which seems long compared to most builds). We don't feel like anyone in the company cares about our build or circumstances and we purposely chose a smaller builder because we thought it would be more personalised service - we have tried since the start to be "nice" clients, being easygoing over all the delays, and have only raised complaints in the past few weeks, so now I can only wonder if our good nature has been taken advantage of.
And my greatest stress right now - we cannot get a rental because no-one here will offer a 3 month lease!
Ugh, I feel stuck in a "doom and gloom" personality with this build, I just want to NOT complain. I am blaming the mamma bird hormones - I need a roof to go over my little munchkins head
