Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2012 9:20 am We have just finished building a house in the western suburbs of Melbourne with its great clay soil and are wondering how best to deal with the south side of our house which gets no sun and, as you can see from the photos below, is pretty well a swamp. Obviously we need to pave somehow but do we also need agi drains? There is a stormwater pipe just outside the back door of our garage and the property to our south side has higher ground level than us. Any advice would be great.

I leave 200mm from fence, and make sure the concrete paving have a bit of slope to direct rain water to the drainage point. fill up 200mm empty space with pebbles, looks nice. Re: Another what to do about the drainage problem 4Jul 03, 2012 1:14 pm LOL that's not a swamp. You should see our swamp. Developers should be banned from leveling our blocks with clay soil. It makes things so much harder. We are running ag pipes along the back and side of our house, the back pipes will be plumbed into the storm water pipes. Re: Another what to do about the drainage problem 5Jul 03, 2012 1:41 pm I am sure I'll be joining this thread shortly as we just realised our builder doesnt include any drainage as part of our build...
