Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2012 8:16 am Our appointment is tomorrow and I still have no idea what colour roof and gutters will complment the bricks we want. We are looking at having Austral Blackwood with off white mortar. Any suggestions on what roof and gutter colours we should use? 29/05/12 - Contacts Signed 18/06/12 - Land Settlement 03/07/12 - Building Approval 20/07/12 - Slab Down Re: What colour roof and gutters 2Jul 03, 2012 8:29 am Can you provide more information? Is your roof colorbond or tiles? If you want to use off white flush mortar it narrows your choice of colorbond roof colours. Using off white flush mortar I would recommend: Roof: Deep Ocean, Ironstone or Surfmist. Gutters: same Keep in mind a dark roof increases the temperature significantly in summer however a light coloured roof reflects the heat more but shows the dirt especially after 7 - 10 years when the colorbond paint starts to go “powdery”. If you go for a standard “grey” mortar you could also include the “grey” tones in the colorbond range. Make sure you hold the colorbond sample choice against the selected brick to make sure you’re happy with the end result. All the best……. Re: What colour roof and gutters 5Jul 03, 2012 12:01 pm If you do a google images search you will come up with a lot of pictures of houses. Here is one that I found http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vztriwGvGPo/TRci3oRZniI/AAAAAAAAAOc/5pFMdO9-dlE/s320/IMG_1488.JPG The front of the house is due to be rendered, but the bricks are Austral blackwood with off white mortar. The roof is tiles, but from what I can see it is quite dark, maybe woodland grey and surmist gutters and fascia. Quote: You do not mention the colour of the window frames. Ring Austral and they will give you a list of houses that have used the blackwood bricks. That way you can see what colour schemes you like and what you dont like. The windows are white. Check my thread if you want to see a picture on how it looks. I went for Surfmist to try and ensure the house would be a bit cooler in summer. If you are considering this, please also check your estate convenants to see if you have any restrictions on roof colour. It may also be easier if you keep your posts to the one thread rather than starting a new thread each time. If you edit the first post in your thread you can change the subject of your thread, so if you are asking for more information people will see it. Good luck!
