We have started meeting a few people here and there when we are at our site over the evening, but I am not sure if any of you are the ones we met . Congratulations to the progress some of you have made and hopefully will continue to make. We have made it to lock up. Tiling of all the wet areas will start tomorrow. The builder has told us that we might look at a completion of mid to end of May (I cannot wait) Hi lyricsinmotion, when did you start construction? Re: Anyone building at bunya??? 4236May 08, 2014 7:39 pm Hey everyone, We were told by our builder today that Bunya DRP want us to upgrade to Rheem Solar Loline (Gas Boost) gas hot water system and it will cost us $6370. That's quite shocking as we weren't aware of this before. Were you all required to install this too? Re: Anyone building at bunya??? 4238May 09, 2014 1:40 am Who is your builder F2014, Allcastle by any chance? You have to find out the reason you need to change your hot water, which gap are they trying to make up for, as there will be other cheaper ways for you to make it up. (even though solar hot water will save you money, it will take a while before it makes up the extra you had to spend on it) Re: Anyone building at bunya??? 4239May 09, 2014 7:42 am At $6,000+ it will likely take you a life time to make that back in savings compared with an instantaneous gas system. Not the systems life time, yours. As Whytee and newhouser said, check where else you can make up the energy efficiency/sustainability shortfall that DRP are pointing to. I was told that they have done the Basix assessment and DRP requires us to have that gas got water system instead of the standard Kelvinator. We were advised by the builder that all the house that they have/are building in Bunya this was required by DRP. I don't understand what's the need for this change anyway I will email the builder and ask why this was required and get back to you guys. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you.
