Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 28, 2012 10:34 pm Hi everyone, Firstly, if there is a thread with this info already please point me to it (i did a search, didnt find anything that was exactly what I was after and thought it would be a good tool for future builders).. We are picking up our building contracts (finally! ) and thought, as many people on here have done this a few times before, what should we be looking out for? I have managed to maintain a spreadsheet with all the variations we have added (and removed... and added again in some cases) so I will be able to make sure they have all been included in the plans and contract... but aside from this, what else? I have never seen a building contract, so I look forward to advice from all you seasoned builders out there... - What are classic rip off/errors made? - Any clauses we should add/modify/be wary of? Thanks in advance! J. Our builder has been incredibly good with money so far; with only an initial deposit to get the draftsman involved, and nothing further to pay until our slab is complete! i'll look at that link though -- thankyou. We got the contract today, and its a little overwhelming. So many things vary from one page to another - so sitting here with a fine tooth comb and a pack of coloured sticky notes trying to mark everything for clarification. You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16556 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11584 Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets.
